I don't know how well this new Pens and Writing Instruments forum will be received, but I for one am very thrilled to see it!

Rolexes and fine writing instruments are just two of my passions. I am new to collecting Rolexes and the exquisite people here on TRF have been remarkable friends and resources, giving freely of their time and investing in me as a new Rolex owner over the last 13 months since acquiring my first Rolex. Thank you TRF!

On the other hand, I have collected wonderful writing instruments, ephemera, journals, and have loved writing for 3 decades and I hope to give back to this community in this P&WI forum as I can.

Thank you Steve and TRF! I feel that this will be a GREAT natural addition to our community.

And remember! It just ain't fittin' to have an $8000.00 Rolex on your wrist and a $4.00 pen in your pocket!

Richard I looked at some of those forums you talked about for pens and hit the jackpot. Found a local guy (35 min away) and he offered to let anyone come to his shop. I sent him an email and he responded right away with a disappointing message. He told me he has closed and moved away. Now for the good news, he moved about 2 min from my house and is willing to let me come over this week and look at his collection, and said he has about 30 pens he would sell. Thanks for the tips and info Richard!!!!

I didn't do much my friend! You did the work and you know you are as passionate about writing instruments as I am!

I find this pen forum a great idea... Perhaps someone can post a primer for us pen newbies... a list of good starter fountain pens, ink to use, etc...
