Thanks Mark. I picked it up yesterday. I didn't want to go overboard on my first one, so I tried out a couple in my budget range and picked this one.
The nib writes kinda thick, may be it's the ink I am using. All this is so new to me and very exciting
Your Mb is a stunner

Thanks Gus! I forgot you got it directly from FPH, so no waiting! :banghead: FP's take some getting used to. If it's writing thick, maybe you need a fine nib... Enjoy your new pen, my friend!

Yes indeed, the actual pen body is just the holder for the important bits, the nib and feed.
I stand to be corrected on this but I believe that the nib on the studio is the same as on the Safari and as such is a breeze to replace and cheap to boot!
Double check with the place you got it from but if this is so then just buy a fine or extra fine nib (in these parts they run to $11 but as per usual I am sure they are cheaper in the states!). The easiest way to take them off is to apply a piece of scotch tape to the nib ( I would recommend clearing the ink out first though this can be done on the fly!) and gently pull, the nib comes off very easily, then, making sure to line the new nib up correctly (very easy) just gently push it into place.
This is a Godsend and a wonderful feature of these pens as it allows you to play around with nibs!
Hope that helps.
Oh yes, this is one of the few fountain pens that allow this, most require specialist tools!

It's funny how things make sense to us when we write them but may not be clear to others. When I wrote "What a great idea for a thread!," I was referring to this one. This is so enjoyable, but just like with watches, it whets your appetite for more pens . . . and more . . . and more. I hope this type of thread becomes a regular part of this section. :bye:

The italic nib seems a bit scratchy but I'm told it will get smoother if I write with it a lot.

I'm not too familiar with the Lamy brand but I do love see-through pens, and most designs that allow you to see how something operates. I know Pelikan also makes a similar model and they are extremely popular. Let us know how you like yours, I definitely like their appearance.
Will do. I just filled the fountain pen with Pelican green ink and it seems a little scratchy, but maybe I just need to get the flow going.
I just got these pens because I needed something to write with while I await the motherload of MontBlancs in about 6-8 weeks time.
I also like demonstrators.
