Not really, I've had it for years, but I thought I would share it now, as I haven't used it yet.
This is the lid of the box, it has some brilliant gold writing on a gloss black timber box.

Kai, the nib on this seems quite large, do you know if this pen is based on the 146 or the 149 model?

Have you compared it side by side with your 149 and 146?
My understanding is that all Writers' series LE are 146 based except Hemmie and Dumas.
I would expect the dragon to be 146 based but without seeing it in person or with other pens as comparison, can't say.

Well just a couple of things make me think it is like a 149 nib:
1. The pen (Year of the Golden Dragon) is not listed as a Writer's Series limited edition but is listed in a separate category 'Special Theme Edition' and as I understand it was limited to the Asian market.
2. The physical size of the nib seems way bigger than my 146 and the body of the pen (barrel) seems a little broader too.
It's got a medium nib, but the cap weighs a lot, as the clip is 750 Solid Gold, whatever that means. :twit:

That is the most remarkable pen clip I have ever seen! Are those rubies that are used for the eyes? What does it write like?

Yes, the eyes of the dragon are rubies and the dragon has a pearl in it's mouth.
I'll work on getting a good photo of that later today.

Life is too short to leave that pen in the box. Take it to work tomorrow!!! :dude::dude::dude:

I'm not going to write with it.........yet.
According to the accompanying booklet as long as the existing nib is new, then I can change it for free. So I'm going to change the 'M' for an 'OBB'.
Maybe then I will use it. I just hope Montblanc honour the statement made in their booklet.

According to Chinese custom, it is bad luck to take a pix of a Dragon Year pen and not write with it within one hour. :read:
You also need to circulate it via149 of your closest friends within 24 hours.:read:
Awesome pen Steve and great pix.

O.K. Kai I guess we could work out a deal along those lines. I went to the MB boutique today, and they are going to tell me next week if I can change the "M" nib for an "OBB". I hope I'm lucky (please pray for me).

Hi Chris, yes I'm sure it would have a great time with a lot of pals, given your vast 149 & Limited Editions. :chuckle:
But now that I realise it is a 149, I'm now getting a little fond of it, after not even having looked at it for several years. This was the last pen I purchased before getting into Rolex watches.........and now I've gone full circle (but I still love watches too)
P.S. Welcome Chris, great to see you here and I hope you can add to the collective enjoyment and appreciation of all fine writing instruments and related material :prty:
