Well after reading all the posts here in the new section and before I wanted to buy a pen. I got some good tips and info from Richard and followed them. It lead me to fountain pen network. I did a search on St. Louis and came across a lady who was searching for stores in the area. A guy named Dennis responded stating that he was in Jefferson City and anyone who was interested in fountain pens were more than welcome to come over and try out any of his pens. I contacted him and told him I was about 30 min away, a total newbie and wanted to see if the offer stood for me. He replied right away telling me rough times and health problems made him shut down and move. I told him no worries hope things get better and thanks for the reply. He asked where I was located at and what I was really interested in. I told him my exact location and just pens!!!! Turns out he is 2 min away. I am not kidding, if there wasnt trees and hills, we would be able to see each other. He offered to let me come over anytime and try out anything. I did yesterday, he gave me a lesson from filling, tips, restoring, companies....etc. More then I can remember. I stayed about an hour wrote with about 50+ pens and came home with these. I dont know what a good deal would have been, or even if I got anything good. I like the way they write and the the weight of them. Let me know what you guys think. I paid 80 for the Sheaffer Pen/pencil combo. As I was leaving he threw in the watermans, cross, a bottle of noodlers ink, and a little pen case. So thanks to everyone for the help on my first purchase, but I am interested to check out the price on them. See if he took advantage of a total newbie.
