How much do Panerai's cost? I'm sure more than I can afford. Believe it or not I never saw one before joining this forum. I have really come to like them looking at more and more of them. Here is the stupid part of the question. Exactly how do you say it. :banghead:

I just looked at some on eBay. I thought rollies were expensive. It's a shame such beautiful timepeices are so unaffordable(for some people). I really really like the looks of them but I'll never be able to afford one. Maybe a replica(also the only way I can afford a Rolex). But apparently beauty comes with a price.

You will not get a whole bunch of support on the fake scene here Tyler. I think you would be better served to just keep saving away.

As far as Pams go, I have been bitten pretty hard by the bug. I like the fact that it is a unique watch that you certainly do not see all over the place. It packs some history, although not the same as Rolex and it has a cult type following. Which is very much like Rolex.

Another cool thing about Pannies is that they still only make about 35,000 a year so that keeps it somewhat exclusive. With this watch you are buying more of the Frogman history and popularity than you are the movement like in a Rolex. Although IMHO the finish is just as good as any Rolex you will find.

That is why I have room in my watch family for both. :agree:

I also love the fact that you can change straps very easy on these models as they are done with screws, not springbars.

These straps are more addicting than the watches. Here is a pic minus about 6 straps of mine and a bracelet that should be here tomorrow.

Darren, it looks that you have spent nearly as much on straps as watches! nice collection.. congratulations!. I only wish panerai would make 38-40mm watches for guys like myself with smaller wrists.. they are really nice watches.. but they just look silly on my small wrist!

Tyler.. you can get a number of watches with the panerai styling for much less such as the glycine incursore line, trias, junghens etc if that is the style that you want. I hope you dont take this the wrong way, but fake watches have no place on any watch fora.. they are abominations, poorly made and reflect poorly on those who buy them. I dont think you have to spend thousands of $$$ to get a nice watch.. many can be had for much less.. i had a look at the glycine incursore line myself, and although they were too big for my wrist size.. they are fantastically made watches and cost $300-$400..

Thanks for the great advice guys. Mamas I checked out some of the Glycine watches and I really liked them. They do look alot like a Pam. My question on those is how much does the average automatic one cost. My parents don't like spending much on watches.

Tyler.. it depends which model you are looking for, and whther you want to buy one with a stainless steel bracelet or leather strap.. they cost about $500 -700 USD but if you go to the various watch fora sales corners you can pick them up much more cheaply. Do a google search and a number of net dealers come up, and see which model you like.
here are some pics from the web i found:

http://img46.imageshack.us/img46/9559/fullsize32bg.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)

For cheaper alternatives, have a look into junghens and trias $200 USD-$300USD.. again very similar styling.
here are some trias pics ($200 USD)

Obviously if you want to buy panerai, then that is what you should save for.. but if you want that sort of styling, without the $$$ .. these watches are great watches and are much better than some crappy fake
Good luck!

Wish I had the chance to wear that monster. That's a VERY, VERY hard watch to obtain. The PAM 194 is much easier to find, but isn't a chrono.

My dream Panerai trio is the PAM 187 , 168 and the Logo 005.

Now that I think about it .... I wouldn't mind a SLYTech with a white face.

Hey Tyler,

It's pronounced: PAN-ER-I....as in a frying PAN....then you stop to think and say ERRRR....and finally ask yourself: Should I buy it...or perhaps a Rolex? :chuckle: :chuckle:

Tyler, when you're ready do your research thoroughly. Had I known about Panerai before I bought my Rolex, I wouldn't have purchased a Rolex at all. Not that I regret buying my ExpII... awesome watch, but Panerai speaks to me more.

Uh oh, John. You sound like you're catching JJ's speaking watch syndrome. You better see someone about that problem before it becomes incurable. :agree:

At last I've found a normal picture of mine. I'm not such a Panerai fan anymore and will probably sell this at some time and buy a vintage Rolex.

That's probably one of the only PAMs I would consider, Adrian, if it weren't so damned big. I need those complications (date and power reserve) to be happy with a watch. If Johnny doesn't want it, I might have an interest in it, to flesh out my collection, when you get ready to part with it.

Rev, I bought a PAM187 through Stryke on TURF brand new at 15% off list. It took about 3 weeks to get so I don't think they are too hard to find. In fact, he has another one in stock at the moment at 15% off list. It came with my name on the papers and full warranty. Some other guy on Paneristi.com also has one available.
