I went into the AD the other day to lay down some more money on my Panerai... whilst I was there the little nagging voice in my brain that was going 'amanda amanda 44mm is huge, ask to see a 40mm PAM' actually came out my mouth to the Salesguy!.

So we chat about the PAM 49 and he has a sold one out the back but lets me have a look at it..... mmmmm bewdiful indeed but alas he cant get one now and has absolutely no idea when one would be sent to him. So I see the 40mm PAM241 in the display case..... please can I try that one on.

WOW bewdiful indeed, has the hobnail dial and the extra complications of the Power Reserve indicator, date and mini seconds dial. Instant love.. BUT wait its more money that I wanted to spend.

So I try the 111 on again and think yeh its all good. And leave the store....

But the voice doesnt shut up about the PAM 241... it fits me perfectly, is the one I really wanted but thought it was too $

So I sent my Salesguy an email yesterday asking if we can in fact swap my downpayment from the PAM111 to the PAM241, email yes - I was embarrassed to go in and ask him :dummy: :chuckle: so a few hours later the salesguy rings and says 'amanda we can do that, my boss is good to go'

So I am now getting the PAM241. Should pick it up in the next few weeks.

I feel peace now, no more funny voices querying me about size!

Yes, I know the PAM111 is a more 'true' Panerai that has the essence of the history of the watch..... and if it was a second watch, I'd have gone for it but its going to be the only watch I have for some time. I think I'd prefer the Auto movement too in the long run.

An automatic pani is the best even now instead of the long run. Pretty good choice you made. Fountain pens and manual wind movements are cool, but not practical and are usually out of ink and power when you need them the most!

I like all the features and layout of the Pam 241, but I do prefer the untextured dial. Anyway, it should be all good.
I would like a Pam with the titanium case, just because my wrist doesn't handle large watches on straps, and I've never had a titanium watch before.
Anyway, good luck, I hope you have considered all the options and models in the Panerai range :)

Lol-x - yeh the Panerai is a hard watch to even track down in Aus, there's only 1 AD in Melb so seeing real examples of models is tough! The Titanium would be awesome indeed!!! Dont start reading paneristi.com, you'll become addicted and start buying heaps of PAMs LOL

You know what Amanda... the hobnail dial is a fantastic looking dial. I just love textured dials. They make the watch look different in varying lighting situations, and they are a constant joy to look at.

But, you know what else?

.... you've opened Pam-doras box, soon you'll want that 111 or a 112 too!

Thats the one! Yes it comes with black croc on deployant. I, fingers crossed should be able to score another croc strap in tan and a black rubber strap too from the AD. Thats the plan anyway :thumbsup:

I have a 24mm strap and 22mm buckle already, the python strap I snapped up when I saw it on special. So will probably just trim 1mm off each side of the strap and try it out. Next I'll get a 22mm Crazy Horse to pop on it!

I think the PR for this watch would be around 44 hours. Those look like 11-hour jumps! :thumbsup:

1.6mm should do the trick. See if you can get one out of the dealer. They should have lots.

Amanda, I think the change of Pannies is a good one. Always go for the one that smiles at you best. :thumbsup:

I think by dumping the Rolex for a Panerai is a gutsy and good move too. Like I said before, if I'd known of Panerai before I bought my Rolex, I'd have had a panny years ago.

That Alpha looks very nice too! That would be my choice, if I went for an Alpha.

Thanks Atomic... I am wrapped with my decision. The guys on paneristi.com kept making such good reasons for the 111 that I kept doubting my own doubts:thinking: confused the you know whats out of me :thumbsdow :rofl:

Then I took a step back and thought about the opening night at the AD where I saw the 241 in the case next to the 49 and went 'oh yeh I wish I could have that one' and that was that!

I think the Alpha I chose looks great.. very nice compliment to my PAM when I get it. Having a bracelet will be nice too! And best of all the watch was as cheap as chips... in Australia I couldnt get anything for $80 in a shop I'd be even remotely happy with.
