A colleague of mine committed suicide last night. He locked himself in his car with a hosepipe up the exhaust and throgh the window. We think the poor guy was having marital problems, plus he has been under a lot of pressure at work. My thoughts go out to his children as they are the ones who will suffer the most due to this terrible event. My thoughts also go out to Alison, a close friend of ours who found him this morning. She is very upset as you can imagine.

I'm very sorry to hear about that, Adrian. That kind of thing is tough on everyone, family, friends, colleagues. Hopefully, those who remain will recover eventually and move forward with their lives.

Adrian, you said he was a colleague, does that mean worked at the same company or a person you knew and had personal connection to. Sounds like Alison needs or will need her friends now maybe even counseling. Most be one hell of a shock to find a co-worker like that. My prayers and thoughts go out to the family, you, and your friend.

I knew him because we work in the same division. Recently I was his boss for 3 months whilst I filled in a temporary position. Alison is the wife of my best friend. She recently lost a nephew in a car crash and her father died. I think she was just about getting over it and now this happens. She sounded very distraught when I spoke to her on the phone, at that time I did not know she had found the body. It was during our conversation that it came out. I think talking about it may have helped a bit. We do have a company doctor but there is not a trained counselor. She's a tough girl and I think she will pull through in the end.
Thanks for all your messages.

So very sorry to hear that Adrian!! :(
I can relate to this more than most as my father took his own life when I was 18.
It's a very hard thing for relatives and freinds but we can only imagine how hard it is for the people that end up taking their life. :(((((

I'm sorry to hear about your father Alex, I know JJ's father also took his own life about a year ago. It must be hard to accept. In this case the children are about 6 and 8. Hopefully they are so young that what has happened won't sink in yet.

That is indeed very tragic, Adrian.
I feel very sorry for the kids in these cases. They would all of a sudden feel like they've been totally deserted and lost. It's not at all fair on them.
Just last week, another guy did the same here after learning that his wife was sent to jail for 3 years in a major fraud case. His daugher happens to be in the same swim club as my grand-daughter and my little Nairika was quite devastated by the news.
I think people should think several times before taking their own lives. I consider it very selfish and stupid to commit such an act and then leave the near and dear living ones in the lurch and destitute.

We have just got back from visiting Alison. She has taken it quite hard and she smashed the window of the vehicle to try to save him. It was to no avail as it has been estimated he had been dead for several hours. When we left her spirits had risen so we hope she will soon feel a lot better.
