I would like to buy my son Ashley a BREITLING when he finishes his exams later this year. He intends to apply to the Australian Defence Force as a avionics engineer/pilot.
He is studying maths, advanced maths, physics, english and geography at The Australian School of Mathematics and Science in Adelaide.
What would be a good buy? old or new? - he likes both.:thumbsup:

Buy him one of these. Very accurate superquartz movement.
Not too expensive, but not cheap either. BNIB from an AD is the best bet, but there is a grey dealer in Melbourne who has some near new ones with his warranty. I bought this one from him last year. PM me for the link.

The Navitimer and Superocean on rubber strap just oozes military pilots watch. New or used, you can't go wrong. But used ones could probably fetch great prices :cheers:

If you do not need a diver then the Navitimer is the one. It is their signature model. I would suggest the black dial. :cheers:

hay guys, i saw a gorgeous cockpit windrider breitling at an AD royal maui hows the quality of those breitlings? are they accurate as a rolexx ??

Get him this one..The Colt GMT.. GMT function is very useful for an aviator

The old Navitimer is the pilot watch everyone invisions, but it is very busy and the built in nav calculater is a novelty rather than really practical..

I would go for the Navitimer AOPA 50's but I am into vintage so ...

The B-1 is THE most useful for an aviator.

The Colt GMT would be an excellent choice as well.

A Navitimer would be appropriate for a person of high caliber like your son.:thumbsup:

As a testament to its quality and accuracy, I bought a used Old Navitimer II more than 13 years ago. No problem whatsoever. It gave me almost perfect time. I only had it serviced April this year.

My love affair with it, continues to bloom each passing day. :chuckle:
