Just wanted to say hello and post my first Rolex. Feedback welcome, also nice to get a confirmation that it's legit. I purchased it at a repuitable jeweler, but you just never know sometimes. Serial begins w/ F and manufactured in Honk Kong... The numbers 888 were preceeding the serial number.

Hi JrPF,
Welcome to TRF. I hope you're not serious when you say the watch was manufactured in Hong Kong!! You do know what that means, don't you?   :dummy: :dummy:

Don't tell me that...On the Rolex papers, the numbers 888 are before the serial number F99....
Are you serious????

Nah, I'm just kiddin'.:chuckle: But you did say that your watch was "manufactured in Hong Kong". I know you probably mean that it's come from there because of that number 888; but the watch is manufactured entirely in Switzerland!!

No worries, pal, you'll get a lot of "leg pulling" on this forum.
But you're right - 888 represents Hong Kong and you can see in the pic below that mine reads 810 which represents Australia....that's where my watch came from.

Welcome to TRF, JPF.
JJ's right. I trust you didn't realy mean it was "manufactured in Hong Kong" and that was just a slip of the keyboard. If you got it from a reputable jeweler (is the jeweler an AD?) then you should be OK. The watch came with all the right papers, including warranty, didn't it?

They are not an Authorized Dealer, but I know they are a repuitable jeweler... Any way to run a serial check or something to confirm for sure?

Well, Jr., I hope you have a receipt for the watch.
I suggest you take the receipt, papers and watch to Rolex HQ in Jardine House, Central and show it to them. They will verify it for you.

The only way I know for sure is to have it looked at by a Rolex Service Center. I take all my high end watches to an insurance appraiser to add riders to my insurance policy. They can pretty much tell the real stuff from the knock-off.

I have the appraisal and will be sending off to my insurance company to get insured... How much is it usually to send it off to the Rolex Service Center to verify?

I don't know, never having done that. Did the appraisal come from the jeweler where you bought the watch? While that's not quite as good as an independent appraisal, that should be good enough to assure you that you have the real thing.
Anyway, enjoy the watch. Be careful that you might find yourself continually sneaking glances at it. It's a problem chronic to Rolex ownership.

Are serti dials basically champagne dials or dials w/ diamonds, or what?

Serti dials come in champagne as well as silver/grey and are fitted with diamonds and sapphires.
