Gary,

Interesting sticker.. I've never seen one like it before..

How about some more pics of the actual watch ??

You know, we have a new forum here called "WatchOut!!" where we will discuss identification of both real and fake Rolex.

I'm going to let this ride here a while, but might move this interesting thread to the other site..

Hi Gary & welcome

I've never seen a sticker like that before on any Rolex but some of the more experienced guys on here may know more.

Good to see more people from the U.k on here, I'm in Preston, not that far away from you

I can't tell. Looks like it might be a sticker over a hologram. Sometimes done in Japan.

IIRC, that type of sticker is placed over the hologram on watches in Japan ... I don't know why, but I've been ADs in Japan with that same exact sticker on their watches ...

The pic. of the face looks good to me but I'm no expert. I hope that's authentic or the fakes are too damn good.

Dial says it's a tritium, but looks like a Luminova makeover?

Gary,
Maybe we need to hear more about your story.. Right now you're just asking if we think a photo is real or fake...

Judging from the pictures I would have to say, preliminarily, that these are photos of two different watches..

Are you taking these shots...or are they being sent to you.

Are you dealing with a web merchant with bona fides, or a private seller, AD, Collector ?

Hi larry
private seller from a well known on line auction. Claims to be a watchmaker in the uk.

If it's ebay, I would be susicious, only because a couple of the pictures don't seem to match......but it is hard to tell like this.

If the seller is also in the UK as you are, I would insist on a face to face meeting and taking the watch to a Dealer of your choice to verify the workings and give it a good once over.

Unfortunately there is considerable fraud these days...especially in the Rolex arena

If I'm not mistaken, those stickers were placed over the original hologram on watches for the Japanese market.

I have seen that type of sticker before from my grey market contact who has been dealing rolex watches for over 30 years. He had a white face Daytona in his store last month with that sticker on it and it was an Asia market Rolex. I think all the Rolex going to Asia have that sticker on them. I could not tell if the sticker was another sticker over the green hologram Rolex sticker or not as it had the clear sticker over it.

Remember, authenicate the watch, not the sticker and buy the seller. Rolex has removed the green sticker moving forward on all new Rolex watches for a reason. To many people were using the stickers as a way to authenticate the watch.

Gary,
This watch looks promising. Our on-board sleuths appear to be comfortable with the Asian style sticker.. and the photos appear to be of a genuine non-date Sub - even though the lighting and detail is not high definition...

You should feel comfortable about meeting this seller in person..

We can usually tell you definitely, something is a fake.....It's much thinner ice to state positively something is genuine...(liability issues and all that)...

Give it a good going over with a 10x loupe....the dial font should be clear, cleqn, and sharp without fuzzy edges. Fit and finish should be of high quality.. hands should turn freely, bracelet should feel solidly built and work without unnecessary fiddling.

If you find everything to your satisfaction, post us some good pics...

Welcome to TRF!

SORRY! But I took the liberty to edit all your link to DIRECT pics here to make it easier for ME and OTHERS to see the pics!

Anyway:

It looks okay, but that case back sticker is a riddle to me

Also, I think the BOX is wrong for a TRITIUM version of the 14060.

It looks like some kind of "marriage".

Hmm......better run like hell, that is the safest thing to do.

The case back sticker is a mandatory add on for any Rolex sold in Japan. The sticker is fine.

Fake or Not it did not matter to me, I was walking around the Athens flea-market area and a gypsy was selling this fake vintage looking Ref: 1665 for 100 dollars, and I bought it, I had bought the original in 1994 from a fellow collector for 3.000 dollars which I sold a few months later for double. I wish I had it today. Anyway a quick description of the original, Rolex Ref: 1665, intoduced in 1967 with a thicker lence good for over 600 meters or 2000ft, first with a Submariner case, dial signed Oyster Perpetual, Sea-Dweller Submariner, 2000ft 610m, Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified, Swiss . I need my head examined, since I bought the above I have been collecting vintage fakes. Someday I will write an in depth diatribe about the subject.
