Asking advice from Breitling fans and experts....

I've been in the hunt for one. Besides the drop on the resale value, is there anything I should worry about?

Breitlings rule!!! The Chronomat Evolution is a stricking watch. The Navitimers are great but I would stay away from the Navitimer World, aparently there are some QC problems with the second time zone. Other than that great watches for a reasonable price.

Speaking of that, I always wondered what would happen if you had a watch stolen, made an insurance claim, got a new watch and several years later the old one found its way to a SC and made its way back to you.

Navitimer is top notch and their flagship..

However, it's too busy for me..

I prefer the Colt GMT, blue dial..

Good watches, but you would need to decide whether you want the standard model with just the date or a Chronograph with a few more complications.

As far as Colt, I like it, but when I put it on my wrist along with the Windrider, I am loving the Windrider.

Have you had a look at the Super Ocean? It's a solid hunk of steel and looks superb with that electric blue dial!! :thumbsup:

Yeah. Saw that on the AD. Might have to go again this weekend to check out Chronomat, Superocean and Cockpit.

Let me be a bit more in depth then some responses....

Breitling is an AWESOME watch. You are right about the higher depreciation of its value compared Rolex, but other than that, you really have nothing to worry about. Breitling is a very sturdy watch, most feature the screw down crown, like a Rolex, most are automatic. Breitling does NOT make their own movement like Rolex, it is purchased BUT modified to Breitling's standards. The synthetic sapphire crystal has 2 coats of anti-glare, one on the inside and 1 on outside of the crystal. If you are looking to purchase a watch with a leather or gator strap, the deployment buckle option vs the tang is amazing. Its very well made, does not stress your leather as much as tang and is very easily operated. The quartz models are what Breitling calls SuperQuartz, the battery life is longer than in 'regular' quartz watches, the precision is much higher. There is really nothing I can say negative about these watches.

Now, let's go to the choice of models....this will all depend on what YOU like. If you like a complicated, busy, CLASSIC, automatic Breitling, you should look into the Navitimer series. They vary between 42mm to about 46mm and all kinds of complications. If you are looking for a more slick design but still a chronograph, I would go with something like a Chronomat...its automatic, comes in MANY MANY different dial choices(including the limited edition, 250 made, black mother of pearl), as well as metal choices, has an awesome design with a high polished bracelet and case (if high polish is not you then only choice here is the Blackbird, its brushed). If you like a bit smaller watch, lower price point, then look into the Colt or a SuperOcean. Something like a SuperOcean SteelFish and Colt GMT are very clean, automatic, no chronograph, though a SuperOcean chronograph is awesome...it has a day/date complication and is priced at around $3515 retail. If you still want to stay in the Windrider series, but do not wish for busy dial, check out the Cockpit, very classy, dress watch.

My current biggest personal recommendation to my customers is the SuperOcean Heritage 46. Brand new watch for 07. Auto, 46mm case, screw down crown, CLEAN, date complication, available with a hand woven steel bracelet or rubber strap with deployment buckle(and leather of course). $3250 for bracelet model. Available in black, blue (its a GORGEOUS, almost ss/18ky Sub blue), or copper dials.

If you would like a HUGE watch, look into the Bentley series, most of them are 48+mm. The GT/GT Racing model is 46mm and the dial colors are exact match to the paint on actual Bentely GT's. Kinda neat. If you want a BIG watch and do not feel like spending 8000+ for Bentley, look into Super Avengers ($3995)

I hope this KINDA helps, but prbly will just confuse you more. I could sit here and type for hours haha, but let me know if you have any more specific questions, like model specific or so. (I did not get into the Professional series because I really don't think you would like to know about them lol.)

If you want a chrono with all the complications, nothing beats this Navitimer Olympus.

Breitling is a very good watch!You`ll be happy with ANY of it,believe me!My opinion is,however,to avoid quartz models.So get some of mechanical Breitling watches and enjoy!

I just picked up a Superocean Heritage 38mm for my sister. It's a great watch, fantastic built quality and a good price.

They are also making sure that most of their mechanical models are now certified chronometers. I have an older model Navitimer and it's not certified.

Like you, I have been wearing an Old Navitimer II for more than 13years--not certified, but pretty much accurate. :thumbsup:
