I'm probably going to buy a TT DJ soon, and here's the issue:

Pre-owned LNIB ~$5K
New Online ~$6K
Out of State ~$7K
Local AD ~$8K

I'm willing to shop beyond price, if you know what I mean. What would you do? I'm looking for some perspective beyond my own.

Thank you in advance!

There will be no unanimous answer to your question, but many different opinions.

Mine is to buy online, but only if you know what you are doing and willing to take some risks.:nofear:

Alan Furman, Swiss Luxury.
Any others you can recommend? Is it OK to get responses in the forum?

Ok, it sound weird, but...I went to Jared two weeks ago (for the first time) and got some pretty prices...I brought home $2,100 Omega Seamaster for $1,550 + tax. They also had SD, SUB and few DJ's with similar discounts. Oh yeah.... they've pollished my wife's and my rings and wedding bands while we were browsing :-)

The Jared stores here do not carry Rolex, but I suppose I could contact one out of state.

buy LNIB off Timezone or here in the For Sale section.

if you can save $3K because of a few superficial scratches it's worth it in my opinion.

It has been said on here before to buy the seller as much or more than the deal when talking used. If you do your homework, you can get an awesome deal on a used Rolex.

Alan Furman comes highly recommended from forum members here, and I had a fantastic experience purchasing my TOG at swissluxury. If I were to buy another Rolex in the near future, I would buy from swissluxury again.

Josh: no problems with Swiss Luxury being that you are from the states? I'm wary of buying a rolex from a grey dealer overseas, just for the potential customs and shipping/insurance issues.

Not entirely sure I understand your question, but I'll try to clarify with my response. Swissluxury is located in Miami, FL I believe, and they are an internet grey dealer. My TOG came with all of the warranty paperwork and the actual AD where Swissluxury acquired my watch was located in Paris, France per my warranty card.

My local AD's wouldn't touch the grey dealer pricing and from numerous other referrals on this site and others, I chose swissluxury.

As for customs, shipping, insurance issues - I encountered none.

I bought an explorer II from Stein Diamonds in 2006. No Problems exactly as advertised and they took American Express.
Also have bought two others using either TimeZone or Watchnet (Often watch will be for sale on both sites).
Buy the seller!!

I was confused. I thought they were located in the UK. Checked out their website--now I'm not confused anymore. Thanks!! They've got good prices on DJs.

I figured I would buy from an AD if they were competitive. Thus far, none have come within $1000 of Alan Furman, and even the lowest priced AD won't ship a Rolex, and they are over 600 miles from me.

We'll see...looks like LNIB may be my best bet.
