Longines review please?

hey guys,, i saw a longines master collection MAXI SIZE... i liked its classical face and big size... if anyone can please give some feedback on the watch or a review.. its a 47.50 MM size.. leather strap

Well, I had had the pleasure of owning a few Longines in my time. The best of the lot was an automatic ADMIRAL model which I used for a year or so.

Amongst the quartz models, was the CONQUEST VHP (Very High Precision) which was fitted with a very accurate thermocompensated quartz movement guaranteed to be accurate within one second per month.

Unfortunately, Longines also produce a lot of cheap quartz crap catering to the masses.

Lately, they have come up with some fine automatic chronographs which could appeal to the purists.

Other than that, it's not a brand I'd waste too much of my money on. OMEGAs are much better value for money.

Yeah Omega are better, however I would not rule out Longines new Sport collection just yet, I have hadeled them and they seem of very good quality!! Couple that with a very good movement and at Tag prices? Im in!!!

I LOVE my Longines! My wife got it for me last Christmas. I have the Master Collection Chrono on a bracelet. It maintains an understated presence but I get as many compliments on my Longines as I did my Rolex TT DJ. Swatch considers Longines to be in it's "High Range" of watches and Omega to be in the "Prestige Range" for whatever that is worth! LOL! I will eventually add to the collection (Rolex is next on my list) but I will wear my Longines with pride! It is hard to go wrong with any GENUINE SWISS timepiece! Longines shares a lot of parts and vice-versa with it's counterpart...Omega i.e. bracelet designs and movements . I will surely add an Omega sometime after a few others. Happy hunting!

I can only comment on older Longines. I have 3 from the 70's, all work well and keep time well.

That last Longines with the oriental characters in the day indicator is pretty special. Any history behind that one??

It was an eBay find that attracted me because of the oriental characters. After it landed I began having doubts about it's authenticity; Babelfish translated the font to Chinese, not Japanese as I'd thought, and the 5 stars and Longines eagle on the dial were painted on rather than applied.

I sent it to Longines (Swatch Group) in Toronto for verification. They identified it as a L7.634.4 2704xxxx, and also verified that the dial and day wheel were original.
