How often is "views" updated?

Just curious how often the "views" stat is updated on the forum pages?

Sometimes its lower than the number of unique visitors to that thread. Just wondering if there is a lag?

Instantly: simply refresh your screen and you will see them updated

I have tried, that doesn't work for me, I'm not saying that they are always way, but if I am in a thread new and I see that I am someone else is currently viewing it I can go back the forum page and regresh and views still says "1"
Maybe just me, Oh well.
