I’ve had an enlightenment and now I’m thinking of the foundation of a new religion.

I guess I’ll call it “The Church Of WISdom”.

Our god is the “Eternal Watchmaker”. He (and of course there is no discussion the this god is male) created world and mankind and – as a manifesto of his existence – the watches.

The Eternal Watchmaker’s doctrine was preached to the people by the WISdom Prophets. The most important prophet is Abraham-Louis Breguet (the name “Abraham” can’t be a coincidence !).
The other 11 prophets are George Graham, John Arnold, John Harwood, Jules Audemars and Edward Piguet, Jean-Marc Vacheron, Antoni Norbert Patek de Rawdzic (better known as Antoine Norbert de Patek) and Jean-Adrien Philippe, Kintaro Hattori, Hans Wilsdorf, Adolph Lange.
This is the reason why we divide the time indication in 12 hours.

The – in comparison – minor spirits are the saints of the Church Of WISdom, like Guido Panerai, Louis Cartier, Ernest Breitling or Daniel JeanRichard.

At least once in lifetime a religious WIS has to go on a pilgrimage to Basel where all devout WISses convene in the spring. Even though the WISses assemble in Basel, the Holy Town is Genève where the devout WIS jumps into the Lac Lemans to wash off all sins.

Of course there are some problems. The Church Of WISdom has two main wings: the orthodox hand-winders and the automatic reformers. Unfortunately there are heretics, too: the quartzers.

I do believe that clock is from the Cafe de Hauters on the Musee de Orsee in Paris. They open very late by the way.
