Pc Attacked

I am now using a brand new PC because my old one went cactus.:crying:

I am notifying you that it is highly possible your site has got problems with virus.:thumbsdow
My old PC was attacked while I was online here. All of a sudden I got the dreaded blue screen with fatal error. The pC was installed with Windows98S2 and VET antivirus, prior to this it was working fine.

I ran diagnostic and discovered a nasty Trojan that had entered while I was on line with this forum.

I don't know what you can do about it. I am taking a risk with my new PC coming on line here just to let you know.

If you find the problem and fix it maybe I'll be back.

Sorry about this because I really enjoyed my time with you.

I have not any issues with viruses or trojans from this site.
Could be a coincidence that it activated while you were here & not received from this site.

I agree with John. I have not had any problems, nor have I heard from anyone who has. It may have been coincidental that it happened while you were on line here.

I suggest you install something like Norten Internet Security. It's a worthwhile investment to avoid those problems.

It is highly unlikely from this site. Anyone who knows "Vbulletin Forum Software" will tell you it is simply the best money can buy. Security updates are constant as new threats arise. Other forum software have no where the support VB does.

I'm sorry to hear about your issue, but I think it had anything to do with TRF.

I often get called away from the computer and forget to log off, so this site is up alot more often than I am actually viewing and posting and I haven't had a problem at all. Hey Steve,

I got a Trojan virus too some time back....absolutely nothing to do with TRF, I assure you...had a friend of mine cover over and get rid of it. He installed AVG as well as "Mozilla Firefox". I suggest you do the same....both are excellent.

But please don't think TRF had anything to do with your virus....because it hadn't!! :thumbsup:

I would doubt if it from this site myself logged in for a average of 12 hours daily never had any problems.I use several free programs spywareblaster just runs in the background,and Kaspersky AV,and Microsofts own free antispyware.Hope you get it all sorted soon:cheers: :thumbsup:

Hello again. I do not know for sure if my PC was infected as a result of being on line in the forum. I didn't state that originally either. I just stated is was a possibility and I felt that I needed to warn you guys for your own good. I thought at the time that the whole site had collapsed because I couldn't find you on Google at my local cafe.

I don't know why this happened. I certainly won't be recommending the Australian antivirus company that I was set up with. All they did was tell me what had destroyed my hard drive!!!

From what all you you have told me, I can be reasonably assured that this forum is not the culprit.My thanks to you Avalon and Padi, Launch Mini, Rockrolex, Rev, dman, CJ and last but by no means least JJ Irani for replying to this.

I wasn't going to come back with this new PC, but your assurances and the fact that I now have Norton Antivirus and antispyware installed is enough to put me back in the forum here.

Glad you are back Steve Norton is good,but a tremendous computer resource hog.I have tried most AV freeware and bought, but the one that beat them all was
Kaspersky AV Personal.Great customer service as well,they will
even phone you back, to talk you though your problem step by step.And AV is updated every 4 hours all automatic so you
are fully protected

Glad you're back, Steve. The best defense I've found is never open an e-mail from an unknown sender, especially if it comes with an attachment. If I don't know the sender, I trash the e-mail immediately.

As everyone here has stated the program this forum uses (vB) is a great program and is a leader in the industry with not many loop holes for hackers to attach parasites.

Hey Earl, thanks for the information. I am glad to be back too.

I don't know quite understand the part you mentioned about cookies. I always thought cookies were a neccessary evil to assist the PC locating web pages that one uses on a regular basis enabling quicker revisits. I wouldn't know how to switch off the cookies. If I did that what would be the result?:thinking:

With this new PC, I am hoping that my emails and other stuff are now fully protected with the latest Zone Alarm Security Suite.

Well with Zone alarm you can set which cookies you want to keep.And a nice free program called mailwasher,you can check all your emails on your server before they download to your PC.
