Check out these 2 pics. The 1000ft=300m is different. One looks further apart than the other. My new sub looks perfectly centered like the first pic. Why would some be different than others.

It is a Z series also. I thought it might be all of the Z series were but evidently that is not the case.

Is there a reason for the differences or is it just a quality control issue :thinking:

Just for completness, here are the dial printings on the "wider" dial. I do think this difference is just on the batch of the dials.

It seems like the wide spacing is more common. I would love to know why they are different.

Anyone have any ideas?

Sure...

It's likely that there is more than one manufacturing factory or machinery for dials.

The specifications are probably for font style/size and location rather than exact dimensions and tolerances. There is some variety on dial printing throughout the Rolex line....and probably any other watch maker too.

Seems to me that someone setting up the dial set out got a bit too happy with the spacebar:
1000ft = _300m instead of
1000ft = 300m or
1000ft=300m

I expect this will be isolated to the batch lot of dials and Rolex will change the spacing in time.

That means my overly spaced "M" Sub ND cosc will be worth milllions in the future!!!

lol jk, would be great though!

I don't know it looks like the normal spaced is harder to find. I wonder how many Rolex will make since they are going to discontinue the model.

I Rolex subject to 'lemon laws' - might be one for the lawyers in the USA.

Then again, Rolex probably has an army of lawyers :banghead:

Stop, rewind, erase, rewind and play:

As I was saying mighty fine dials on those Subs :thumbsup: :rofl:

I saw on the pics posted here that the SuB ND has the latest engraved rehaute but the case has pinholes in it.

May I be enlightened, as I always thought the newer series does not have pinholes.

Thanks!

I'm sure that we'll eventually determine that one of those two versions is much more rare than the other and then collectors will go wild to obtain the more rare version. Rolex loves to play games like that and I'm sure they have fun thinking up these little changes to make collectors go wild.

Just different dial printers......like some Subs have the FLAT "S" on the word SUBMARINER.....while others have a ROUND "S".

Bluesy has the ROUND "S" while Subby has the FLAT "S".

no idea but mine the Rolex Crown seems so close to the 12.00 hr marker. That bothered be until i realized they are all like that. Have the M with the spacing but never noticed it.
On the other hand, I SWEAR its the first Rolex ive worn where random people keep saying how much they like my watch.

I read that the no date sub, like the ones you own are more desirable by collectors because the face is umobstructed by the cyclops...your opinion?

I'm trying to decide between date and no date...any help would be appreciated. I like the clean look, but torn between the two choices?

Looking at all the different photos of the spacing on the dials. I don't see anything. To illustrate what the difference is, would require placing the "two" different dials and photographing them straight on. Making sure the camera macro lens is equidistant from both dial and the light is the same. To photograph a watch dial which is practically laying flat and then trying to determine "spacing?" doesn't work. It's called optics.
