Breitling Owners -- Help please

A friend just bought one of their non-chronograph COSC cert'd watches. Good looking I might add.

Here's the issue, he says it's stopping on him all the time. I asked him if you wears it regularly. He claims to. A brief look at their website seems to show similar watches have about a 42 hr power reserve.

These babies have power reserve issues?

I told him to give it a good 40 turns Friday am, wear it all day and see how long it takes to stop over the weekend. He seems to think it defective, but I think it's too early to reach that conclusion.

Any thoughts?

Winding it about 40 times like you said with the crown is a good idea then waiting to see how long it will run for. Should fix the issue because it depends on how it is worn etc. Thing is though there could be a possibility it needs repairing. Either way they are amazing watches and hope this is all sorted out soon :cheers:

Without the watch being manually fully wound,, wearing it all day won't be enough to wind the watch especially office desk jobs.

Let's wait and see if winding it manually will be the answer, I'm hoping it is.

I have had two non chronograph Breitling watches before (SuperOcean, Steelfish) and both had no PR issues.

Well, your instincts helped confirm mine. It's his first manual watch and I think he finds it a game not having to wind it. I don't know about you guys, but if I take a watch off and don't put it in a winder, I'll always give it a dozen of so turns before wearing it again or putting it away in the winder.
Anyway, he has nothing to present other than "my watch stops too soon....I think."
So he's going to give it a full winding and monitor it carefully; then we'll have a piece of data to work with.

He checked it over the weekend. Power reserve sitting on the night stand was 33 hours. I think it's supposed to be in the low 40s. Would you return it?

I own a 2008 Breitling Cockpit Chrono and so far it has not stopped on me even once. I'm stationary most of the day and it still has enough juice to keep going. You should exchange your watch, it may be a lemon.
