I wouldn't buy from them. They look like Frankenwatches to me. They also have a habit of posting reviews for themselves on watch forums and review sites. That strikes me as dishonest.

If you Google them, it takes a few pages to get past the "reviews" but eventually you'll run into some not so nice stuff.

Thanks all. Any suggestions for buying pre-owned on line? Or is it better to just buck up and buy new?

Totally bogus reviews, I agree Steve.

They frankenise anything Rolex. They are definitely NOT authorised Rolex agents.

Mel-rose appear to be an internet company.

Their website does not reveal any bricks and mortar establishment.

The items for sale are in a number of cases highly modified and Rolex would not have a bar of them if you needed to warranty or get serviced.

Mel-rose use various internet tactics to attempt to put a positive spin on their own activities including posting on forums such as this by people who have had "such a positive experience with Mel-rose, you don't get that service anywhere else".

This is a fake marketing spin IMHO and it has appeared again and again on this forum from a newbie 1st poster who otherwise adds nothing by way of value or content. Anyway make up your own minds.

This is the sort of rubbishing spam post we get AGAIN and AGAIN from Mel-rose Jewellers:

New user, 1st post, says he comes from California, but the post is made from Mumbai, India.

Just total spam :tt: :tt: :tt:

The guy was so desperate he tried to post this 5 times :twit:

At first I was a little nervous about buying a used rolex watch from an online merchant. After all, you're simply sending money into a black hole and hoping that you get something back. But I knew exactly what I wanted, Melrrose Jewelers had it, it looked good (at least on their web site), and it was about $100 cheaper than a local jewelry store.

In the end I decided to go with them, since their selection of Rolex datejust were slightly more unique than any others. Fortunately, everything turned out well. The watch was packaged very nicely, shipped insured, on-time, and was better than the picture on the site. I don't know too much about rolex watches, but their site explains a lot and the quality is better than you'll actually get from most local jewelers

I ended up buying the MOP dial Oyster Rolex and am totally satisfied.

If (when?) I need to get something like that again, I would shop Melrose Jewelers.
