What would everyone think of a realtime chat room to go along with the forum? I have the capability and was wondering if it's something members would like to have?

I'm with Nancy. What if I had nothing to say?:chuckle::chuckle:
A realtime chat room would be interesting - neat idea.

I use mIRC to visit EFNET, DALNet and UnderNet channels. There may very well be a #rolex channel there!

Okay.....lemme clarify here.....once again......still floundering around in here, I responded...and then noticed that the question had been posted in 2005! So.....figuring out that I couldn't actually CANCEL my reply, I said nothing......in a feeble attempt to look at least less dense.

See, you're way smarter than I am. I didn't notice that it had been posted in 2005 at all!:chuckle:

There have been many very old threads returning lately. Somebody's figured out the search function.:chuckle:

And I'm guessing at this point that seeing as it didn't happen in 2005, that there wasn't enough interest to warrant all that work that probably goes into setting one up!

It's been tried on another forum, Ashley.....and didn't quite work. All of a sudden you have way too many members in the room all at one time....and the place becomes a bloody circus.
You don't know who's talking to who and in the end some feel like they are just bystanders.
Sorry, doesn't work!! :banghead:

On a betta (fish) forum I frequent, they have a chat room and it works really well. But I think that they must have less members than we do here, or else it would probably be crazy there too.

The ideas good - i'd love it !!
Is there no way of having the facility of inviting members into a real-time Chat? rather than having it open to all ??
It would get round some of the traffic problem

I could see that happening..........especially now that I think about how many members there are here!

It was tried on TRF shortly after Mark threw this idea out. I can't remember the reasons why, but it didn't work out too well.

There was only a dozen members back in '05.
when the count went up to 2 dozen, it became a madhouse.....

Too bad it couldn't be set up like Pogo games are...with several separate rooms .......only in this case, it would be "Rolex Chat Only"...."General Discussion"....."Girls' Coffeeshop" etc. Guess that's stretching the imagination a bit, eh?

Go for it! I would really enjoy it. Would it be strictly Rolex oriented? Would it be policed?

Only if YOU were in the chat room, Allan!:rofl:
:justkiddi
Isn't gonna happen......I just happened to stumble upon a three year old thread and didn't realize I was 3 years behind the discussion. Apparently, for many good reasons, it's just not a workable plan.

It could work out pretty good... we could share these stories live in real time instead of one post at a time... besides some people are already chatting through Skype why not a chat room?
