whats going on?there is a forum here for lovers of panerais and omegas(a brand which i adore!) but there seems to be very little love for breitlings.whats the problem folks?why no love from the rolex fraternity? i own a titanium chrono avenger and a chrono super ocean and hope in the next month to be able to be able to add to this modest collection.i think they are a nice contrasrt to my rollies.am i alone with my admiration for the brand?

You are not alone. Recently there was a poll here regarding what other brands people owned and Breitling was either third or a close fourth. I love my CSO.

Love my Breitling Skyland Blacksteel...wish I could keep her...but the wife made me sell the Sub for the DSSD and now the BS is on the block since it gets no wrist time these days.:dummy: I'll get another one someday...I'm sure of that.

But I do agree with you as I thought the same thing. Pan & Omega additions to the forum, but no love for the Breitlings. Why? I guess they will have to stay "Non-Rolex" discussion topics for the time being. Cheers.

I love the black Breitling and the dog seems to like it as well. Is that the DLC on the watch?

It sure is a nice looking watch. You've got a keeper there.

I really love the Breitling watches! The Emergency must be a unique watch in the industry as I have never read of any other watch that has its features.

The others are simply great in no uncertain terms and very highly esteemed in my book.

Superb and I will be adding one to my collection in the future.

Yep...the BS's are DLC. So far it's held up extremely well (although I confess it has not really gone through any tough duty). I kind of wish I would have cleaned it up a bit before the pics...any minor discoloration picked up in the pictures is from finger smudges. You can't see them in person, but the micro pictures pick everything up. If you wipe it down you get completely dull uniform black color...looks really sharp.

I wish it were a keeper...but alas, she's up for sale. I'm probably going to keep it posted on here & watchuseek until after the new year...if nobody wants to take it off my hands by then, it's off to the Bay where I'm sure someone will get a great deal on a sweet watch.

Cheers.

I have had a Breitling B-1, with a blue face, for over 3 years and I love it. I always receive positive comments. I do have an issue though. My wife thought she would be nice and replace the battery for me after 2 plus years of wear (at a local watch shop) and now the hands don't match the digital time. I have heard that goofing with the guts will void the warranty and Breitling won't touch it. Any suggestions?
(the pic is not my watch, but the same nontheless)

So what...are you expecting to live forever? I like Rolex more (obviously), but I think B. have a number of models that not only look good today, but will look just as good 20 years from now. After that...I really don't care how a watch looks in comparison to the times...it's probably time for a new one anyways! Cheers.

timeless for me means i can pass it on to my son and he can later on in the future.

My only real complaint with Breitling is their obsession with high gloss polish on 95% of their watches. There have been a number of models I would easily have purchased if they were brushed SS...but alas, I had to pass as they were just too bling for my tastes. I don't know why it is, but to me, the high polish stuff almost makes the watch look cheap IMO (which I realize is kind of odd since I think they polish the material in hopes of making it seem more upscale:thinking:).

Then again, to each his/her own I guess...I do know I've read many responses on Breitling forums where the happy owners rave about the high polish cases/bracelets. Cheers.

I wear my CSO on a strap 90% of the time because of the high shine of the bracelet. The only near negative I have for the Breitling. It is very accurate and I love looking at the detail on the dial.

I just got my first Rolex, and I'm trying to get used to how small and light it is.
I love my Breitling super avenger and will be getting the black skyland next, as moby33 shows above.

BTW - after wearing the super avenger, when I tired on the new deepsea, I still thought it was a mid-size watch in comparison...

Crown: Screw-Locked
Crystal: Sapphire

even the watches (like u-boat) that have the same size dial or bigger, are 1/2 the weight or less.

That is a big and heavy watch! Actually, even my Superocean feels heftier than the Sub, so I can imagine how your watch is!

I have the super avenger and the sky land avenger...wish I had the black case version though, both of mine are polished. Although I am wearing my GMT II as I type this my Rolex gets very little wrist time since moving to Breitling. I bought my wife one a few years ago and her Rolex sits in the winder next to mine!

Everybody is posting such great pictures. What is the secret to photgraphing a watch? Every time I try to do it my pictures turn out terrible. How do you get the lighting correct?

I have a Breitling Chronomat Evo diamond and a Chrono Avenger T1.

Lighting and tripod are the secret to taking close up photos. Also, most P&S (Point and Shoot) cameras have a macro (ability to take close up photos), and it is represented on the dial or menus by a flower.

+1 With the tripod!!! If you're taking high quality photos in macro, every little movement is magnified and can potentially mess up your shot. Try using a tripod first on auto, then try macro. If you're using flash, zoom in at an angle so there's no glare. Those pics I took were without a tripod and flash so the lighting and detail aren't so good.
