First post here guys.

ebay username: batwing411 (for feedback references)

I am in the market for either a GMT or a SS Sub, but I'm not looking for a price in the retail range (duh!)

Of course, this is a mixed bag. I am active duty Navy.... and a submariner.

So, of course, a sub would "fit" nicely.

However, I travel A LOT.... so I'm thinking a GMT would probably be better for me in the long run. I do prefer the newer models without the bracelet holes in the case and only Oyster bracelets... the jubilee never caught my eye....books/papers/lineage is a requirement as well.

I prefer the Pepsi bezel on the GMT.

I'll consider a TT Sub with a blue face, only because it will make my CO very unhappy since he only wears a SS Sub. :bartmoon:

I'm still kicking myself :banghead: over the 2 Sea Dwellers that I missed.....

Thanks!

Doug

Welcome to TRF, Doug. Glad you found your way to our merry madhouse. Stick aroung and join in the fray.

As for which one to get, you'll get as many opinions here as there are members. Personally, in case you haven't figured it out yet, I would go for the GMT (but preferably with the black bezel). Since you travel a fair amount, you'll fine the GMT's 24 hour hand and quick change hour hand to be real assets when you cross time zones. I don't leave home without mine and it typically takes me about 5 seconds to change to my new time zone. Plus I can keep track of time at home.

You will no doubt hear from a certain loony Kiwi who will try to convince you that the Sub is the ULTIMATE Rolex. Do not believe a word he says. He has been through so many Rollies in his life, his ultimate watch is always the next one he gets.

Hi Doug and welcome to the nut house. It's always best to go to a dealer who has the watches in stock. Try them on and see which one has "Buy me" written all over it.

Hiya Doug,

A BIG welcome to TRF, the craziest forum on planet earth!!

BOTH are superb watches....the GMT-II definitely being the more practical one for most people. But if you are into real serious diving, then you might want to consider the Sub-date. Your call, pal...either way you will NOT go wrong!! Both watches are instant winners!!

Have yourself a blast on TRF.

Cheers - JJ:cheers:
