Sometimes my mind is feeble and I seem to jump into decisions.

I am going to write a review comparing it with my 2254.50 sometime this week.

Congrats! I like that black PO alot.

Couple of ?'s.....what made you choose the 42mm over the 45 and why the decision not to go Pannie? No biggie, just wondering.

You got a great watch, congrats again.

So Haj, why the change of heart with the Pannies? Did they just not sing the same in person? I know that happens to alot of people.

To tell you the truth I really thought they were spectacular looking. Totally different than what I usually like. I just did not feel confident in spending that kind of money on a watch that I might not wear as much.

On another note I was not impressed with the way I was treated at the dealer. They were very helpful until I said that I would probably think about it and come back later. She rudely told me that I should put a deposit down on the watch because they are really quick to move and that it could be gone by this afternoon. I said that I would take my chances. She then gave me a look and acted like I was totally wasting her time. Not impressed. :thumbsdow

Congrats!

That's funny, I sold my Omega PO for a Panerai.

The black PO is certainly a nice looking watch (much better than the orange abomination!) but VERY different from Panerai. Funny you say you weren't confident on dropping that kinda dough on a watch you may not wear as much... only because I fear my Rolex may gather a lot of dust now that I HAVE my panerai!:chuckle:

She wasn't just trying to sell you the Panerai. They do move very fast.
A few weeks ago, my AD called me , just to come look at a 197 Rad ( Pink Gold, beautiful watch for around $24k), JUST TO LOOK.
She called a second time less that 24 hours later SOLD.:dummy:
She did make sure that I got to see it before she delivered to the customer:thumbsup:

Nice peice Mr. From New York. I have looked at that watch many times. Now that I have two black SMP's I may need to think about that one harder. I would think that I could sell my 2254 and get a white GMT pretty close.

The white GMT shows up frequently on various sales corners. Interestingly, it's also very popular in lists of "Watches I Regret Flippping."

Since I have five Omega, I guess you could say I'm fond of the brand.

That is to say, no one likes all of everyone else's watches, but everyone finds all the watches interesting? :smokin:

Great Omega Collection you have there Alan..i especially like the memomatic.. one of the very few wrist alarms where you can set the excat time, and also not in many of these type of alarm watches is the alarm function wound automaticaaly by the automatic mechnaism.. most you have to manually wind the alarm mechanism for it to power up!

When I started this crazy hobby, I was particularly fond of the alarm complication, but I never found one that I really wanted. Most of the alarm watches I checked out had Schild movements, or a derivation. (Even Panerai's alarm uses this.) I'm not anti-Schild, but I didn't want something ubiquitous.

Non-Schild movements that interested me were the JLC alarm (also used by IWC), the Seiko alarm, the Fortis, the Memomatic, and the Cricket.

The Seiko and the Omega were fairly easy to acquire. Both were inexpensive and offered a variety of case styles and dial colors.

The Cricket was torture to wind, although it had the loudest alarm.

The JLC looked too dressy, although it had the nicest sounding alarm. When they put the movement into their "Master Compressor," the dial and hands didn't appeal.

I didn't care for the Fortis until they put it into a 42 mm case.

More recently, GP and a joint development by Breguet and Blancpain have offered two new alarm movements. Both movements are nifty, but for me, the standout is the Breguet. But the 22k+ price is way out of my reach.

So I'm happy with the Seiko, the Omega, and the Fortis.

I tried to pick a watch that wouldn't get much appreciation.

How's this? It's a Swatch Paparazzi, one of Microsoft's SPOT watches.
