View Full Version : Changing nicks

Hey guys, just got a question. How difficult is it to change my nick?
I'm experiencing a slight problem on another forum where I'm using the same nick. Some flaming arsehole has decided that he's going to stick to me like human crazy glue, and the last thing I want is to bring his brand of filth on this forum.
I just did a Google search for "forum Gedanken Rolex" (I've talked about my SD to a few watch nuts over there), and the Rolex Forums came up. I think the safest thing for me to do is to change my nick so at least that connection is lost.

Mark should be able to do it easily. I'm not sure you can change it yourself. I don't see any place to make that change.

Yeah, looks that way, doesn't it? I was just hoping to be able to do it without bothering Mark.

Of course your old name will still be out on the search engines, so he'll know where you are. He just won't know who you are. http://www.rolexforums.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
So what did you do/say to make this guy nuts? http://www.rolexforums.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Pyewacket??? :banghead:
From the 1968 movie, Bell,, Book & Candle, starring Jimmy Stewart, Kim Novak, Jack Lemmon, Ernie Kovaks, Hermione Gingold, Elsa Lanchester, and a host of others. One of the better comedies.

Oh, I forgot to mention, Pyewacket was Kim Novak's cat. She played a witch in the movie.

Bugger. However, will the names on all my old posts be under the old or new nick?
As for the history behind this guy, well, cutting a long story short will still be a long story.
I'm on this Singaporean forum which is made up of about a hundred (I'm serious) sub-fora (or is that forums?). Anyway, some of these are real zoos, and this guy popped up one day slagging off Singaporean women. He's come on with this real king-of-the-world attitude, and I've decided that I'm not going to take any crap off this sexist pig. Over the course of a couple of hundred posts, I've goaded this guy into revealing things about himself. He was bragging about having a 5-digit monthly salary and living the high life, and of course, me being me, I started poking holes in his story to the point that everybody on the forum concluded that he was lying through his teeth.
On top of that, one of my friends on the forum discovered a thread by this guy in which he said he liked sniffing women's soiled panties - no, I'm not kidding, it's all still there in black and white. Well, by that point, I'd led the charge in making Mr. I'm-the-shining-example-of-the-Alpha-male look like the runt of the litter who was just bitter about having one too many women laugh at him like the loser he was.
So anyway, since I'd demonstrated that he was telling lies about himself, he figured he'd do the same thing to me. I mean, this takes dedication - he went through a couple of thousand of my previous posts, managed to guess my name, did a search of the Victorian Psychologists' Register - and proved that I was indeed a psychologist and holder of a doctorate! :chuckle:
Of course, this further humiliation did not sit well with him at all, and he's been on my case ever since. Over the past few months, I've been ignoring him, but a few days ago he pushed me just a bit too far, so I did a recap of his greatest hits, and now people who didn't know about him previously are laughing at him.
Now this guy's not too bright, but if he's taken the trouble to go over my old posts, he'll have made the association between me and Rolexes, and there's the just outside chance that he may try to do a search, so I'm covering that base.

James, if you change your nick on this forum, all your posts on TRF will appear under your new nick. Classic examples are Manatee and Uncle-AJ. You can't find their original nicks anywhere on this forum.
