My new-used GMT that I just purchased was 5 years old and running around 15 seconds slow. I am assuming that it is probably due for a service but I figured what the hey. I will crack open the case of my $1000+ watch and jam some tools in there and see if I can fix it.

Before

Grab the vise grip and crank off the back!

Stick in the scredriver and turn it forward a few clicks.

Couple shots of the guts before I shut her back up.

All Done! Now mail it off to Omega to fix the damage! :banghead:

Just Kidding I Hope. :bye:

Well the hardest part of regulating any watch is getting the back off.Check it for a few days for timing, before locking case back down tight. And its nice to see some movement decorationon a non view back watch. Its a pity Rolex could not do the same, even Geneva stripes would do.

that's a good looking movement! Very impressive for a non display back watch!

Hi Haj,

While you may think you've done a commendable job, you wouldn't have the equipment to test for waterproofing. Are you sure you're watch is now 100% water pressure tested? And are you 100% sure the seals on the case back are securely in place?

You may need to take the watch over to an AD to have them check it out in a pressure testing unit just to make sure you've got the above right!!

Cheers - JJ:cheers:

I do agree with you guys. I will probably send it in at the end of the summer. I was just doing it for the experience of doing it and to see how much difference it makes in the timing of the watch. Who knows if the thing is gummed up enough the adjustment might not make as much of a difference as it should.

I will post some timing results in a few days.

Thanks again for the input. :bye:

"End of the summer" might be too late, Haj. Meanwhile, you will be giving ample time for the elements of nature to take over and possibly ruin the delicate movement inside. If I were you, I'd have it checked out pronto.
