View Full Version : Springbar Remover Size for a Datejust?

Hi guys, I hope that someone can help me. I've got a couple spring bar removers, but none that are small enough to fit into my DJ ("M" series). The width of the fork of my smallest is 1.5875mm (1/16") and according to my caliper, the width of the spring bar slot in my DJ is about 0.79mm (1/32"). I've fabricated a make-shift remover from a 1mm slotted screwdriver by shaving off the sides of the tip. While this did work to remove the bracelet, it doesn't give the same amount of control as a professional one with a nicely cut "V" in the center.

So my questions is - where can I buy a spring bar remover that is actually small enough to fit my DJ (< 0.79mm or 1/32")??? I've looked at many watch tool sites, but either they don't list the size, or the size they do list is too big. Don't know where to go from here.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

-Greg

Thanks, Buz. But the smallest size they list is still a little too big (although it's still smaller than the ones I have). Do you know of any place else?

Thanks,

Greg, either of the first two work perfectly. Most members here use this tool and I have been using it with no problem for over a year. Trust me, it will work.

I guess the size specs I got (from another site) were incorrect (it was listed as something like 1.17mm). I will give it a try (just ordered it) and will let you know how it goes.

Thanks again.

Hey Buz, the first one that pops up on the link is the one correct, the 6111. The generic is exactly the same also? Thanks

Buz - OK, here's an update: I just got the spring bar tool (6111 Bergeon). Good news and bad news about the size. The bad news - it's just a few hair lengths too wide. The good news - it was soooo close to the exact size, I just ground off about 1/20th of a millimeter from both sides of the fork. Now it fits in the spring bar opening perfectly and slides back and forth easily. Below are some before and after photos.
