Not sure what watch you are doing this to, but my advice would be to stop playing around with it as you don't seem to know what you are doing.

Then again it's your watch, so have at 'er if you want! :chuckle:

Most movements have a screw or button on the plate that is used to release the crown. In other words, you have to take the back off to start with. Simply pulling on it will damage the keyless works.

Have fun - let us know how you make out. Pictures would be good too!

hey i managed to find out some information . . . it is for a ETA 2836-2 movement on my friends Folex, he need to take it out for i have no clue what and i told him i can post it on this forum and hopefully get some help, but i found the info here if anyone needs it in the future:

see the slot with the small circle in the middle that is just above the
stem and in between the edge of the plate and the winding pinion, that
is your stem release, not a screw, you just press it down to release the
stem, now this is important, use a screw driver that fits the slot, do
not, repeat DO NOT use a point to press this in, the screwdriver will
press in the set lever the right amount to release the stem,

however if you use a point you can press the set lever just a little bit
too far and cause the clutch lever to disengage from the clutch wheel
and jam the setting system, and the only way to fix this is to remove
the hands, dial and day/date system then the coverplate to reset the
setting system.

anyway assuming you got the crown and stem out ok, after you have
greased the crown seal, just put the stem back in give it a bit of a
wiggle by rotating back and forth a little at the same time pressing it
in lightly, the stem will just click back into place, pull the crown in
and out a couple of times to make sure it has locked back in.

Agree with Al on this if you know nothing about basic watchmaker skills leave well alone.Knowledge is great but to little knowledge could be dangerous.

it is for a ETA 2836-2 movement on my friends Folex

In that case the instructions are a bit different:

Step 1 - Place watch on an anvil.

Step 2 - Obtain 10 pound sledge hammer.

Step 3 - Open case by striking watch with sledge.

Step 4 - Repeat step 3.

Step 5 - Repeat step 3 and 4.

Step 6 - Repeat steps 3, 4, 5.

Step 7 - Throw it in the trash where it belongs.

Step 8 - Go buy a real watch.

Hope this helps.

You assumed wrong. The museum is a Council funded affair and the pay is lousy. :thumbsdow

However, the good news is that I'm TOTALLY debt free...no mortgage, no nothing. Everything I own is mine. So I can afford to live a little luxuriously at times!!!

If you practice what Jeff has said, you will have the money to fund just about anything you want. Perhaps not immediately, but eventually.
