Proper Bracelet sizing of a SS Submariner Date

Submariner M version Stainless steel.

Can one of you talented professionals please go through the bracelet sizing step by step for me? I am confused, I have looked over many of the posts in the forum, but I am looking for an official step by step technique. Do you start with the clasp holes or the links first, where does the clasp bars fit on top of the clasp closest to the bottom side of the wrist. Is it better for the pin in the clasp be further inside (fourth hole) or outside in the first hole with links removed? Are there a specific number of links (or ratio) that should be on the 12:00 side compared to the 6:00 side? Does Rolex have a specific guide or instructional guide for this very important function (comfort) of the bracelet. It seems that there are a lot of opinions out there....

With bracelet open, starting computation from zero added links -
1) first two links should be on the short side
2) third link on the long side.

My dealer taught me: With clasp closed, hold watch upside down ... the head should be level i.e. parallel to ground. If its slanted one way or the other i.e. longer on one side or the other with clasp closed , you get the idea what to do.

Yes, this might work if all wrists were the same shape (and size) but as they differ then so will the link numbers on the 6 and 12 side.
I have always found (on my wrist @ 7.5") that most Rolex will fit me out of the box (except DSSD) but I need to take at least one link from the 6 side and put it on the 12 side to stop the watch from twisting. As wrist size reduces, more links would need to be taken from the 6 side to keep the clasp centered.

First pix is as it came, second with one link swapped and now much more comfortable and no more 'rolling' of the watch head around the wrist.:cheers:

I would presume that there is a mythical correct ratio for links per side, also what notch do you keep the divers link extension in the clasp. if it it placed in the outer two, you run the risk of the O on the bracelet to extend pass the clasp....
