View Full Version : Breitling?

I am thinking of getting a Breitling Avenger Seawolf to the collection on a rubber strap as a "beater" for work. I am currently using a TAG aquaracer, but a devastating blow from a tractor door pretty much dispatched it today. I actually have a bruise in the shape on the diving helmet on the back of my wrist! Anybody have any thoughts on the line? I like the AS as it has the 44mm case and is an automatic...

Thanks!!

I've got a Navitimer Olympus, Dave and really like it. After my GMT, it gets the most wrist time of any of my watches. In fact, I've been wearing it all week so far. Breitlings are a top quality brand. And tough. You can't go wrong with one.

Great to hear! I was thinking about another Aquaracer, but I don't trade/sell my watches often and thought this would be a good opportunity for a change and to try a brand that I haven't owned yet. I will contact the local AD tomorrow...

Anyone else want to sound off on the Avenger Seawolf?

I think it's a very cool looking watch  I've always admired them, they're just a little too big for my wrist

Thanks CJ for the response!

I'm kinda a big guy (6'1" and 260lbs) and I have really taken to the 44mm+ case size-hence my not so secret love for Panerai! I have a business associate that has a Breitling and swears by it. Wouldn't try it but he is a general contractor and was walking across a second story flat last week and snagged his rubber strap on a screw and peeled it off of his wrist. Landed (in the grass!) two stories down and is still going like a champ. I like auto or manual movements and as of late am not really interested in quartz movement-so the AS meets my needs like a glove...

It sounds like it was made to order for you  I really like the dial and band, especially the red tip on the seconds hand. My favorite Aeromarine model would probably be the Super Ocean on rubber. The 24hr markers on the dial just makes it look great in my opinion

I don't know if you like complications, Dave, but I love this one:

It's got it all - day, date, month, moon phase, chrono, and a slide rule.

That Navitimer is a 'beaut!! A little too nice for life on the farm though. Someday I will get a nice complications watch like that!

damn, like that one, it has the 7750 base, right? do you feel the wobble with it? is the crystal blue hueish due to AR coating? (another thing I like) I wanna Breitling.

You're right on the base, Randy. The bluish hue is due to the photography. The crystal is crystal clear in real life. I really enjoy it, but then you know how I love complications. :chuckle:
