This beauty is on its way to me right now and I couldn't resist posting a couple pictures. When I receive it I'll post better ones, of course. It's a 1959 ladies ss oyster w/ sub seconds and white gold fluted bezel. The bracelet is riveted, which I love.

I'm not sure if it's a bubbleback because it's been quite difficult so far to find similar examples of this watch. This one that was posted recently, however, comes quite close. Is this a bubbleback?

So you think mine is a bubbleback? What exactly is a bubbleback and how desireable are they? They seem to be valuable on ebay.

I finally received the watch today and really like it except for one thing- the size! If only I could inflate the watch to a bigger size I'd be thrilled with it. Perhaps I should sell it and keep looking? I don't know. Here are some pics so you can get a feeling of its proportion and size on my wrist. What do you all think?

Thanks, but want some more opinions on the scale of it on my wrist. This watch makes my daily beater of 11 years, a movado, look huge. lol

I forgot to ask earlier: How do I safely remove the band so I can see the serial numbers? I'd just like to know what the numbers are so I can do more research on the watch.

Quite elegant.
I like the scale, but it's your wrist and you have to live with the size.

It looks fine to me on your wrist, as regard to checking out the serial numbers etc the quickest but maybe not the right way to do it is to get a paperclip and open it up. Very very carefully push the pin down that you can see the end of at the holes on the lugs on the side where the bracelet meets the case, I suggest if you are not happy about doing this is to take it to a AD so they can do it for you. Sometimes when I can't find the right equipment the simplest things do the job just as well. Regards agw2872.:bye:

I think it looks fine, but ladies are more and more wearing larger size watches these days. I got my mother a ladies Oyster Perpetual Date and had to send it back as it was so small she couldn't see to read the time. :banghead:
I agree the bezel looks sharp.

Beautiful watch, but I think a bigger watch would look great on you!

Beautiful face to the watch, and also a very nice band. Is this not going to become your beater ?

The scale looks fine. If the watch's face is legible enough for you to tell time without your bringing your wrist up to your face, then it should be fine.
