Bezal on a Tudor Sub

Hi

I removed the bezal on my 76100 Tudor Sub to check it out prior to doing an install of a new insert and the turn action is quite loose,it requires some pressure to turn but not much.

Question how do i tighten it up?

Was it uni-directional or bi-directional? If its bi-directional, I have a 5513 that it fairly easy to move and a 1680 that I have to almost force. If its uni-directional that clicks, you may have lost a tiny piece that's name escapes me.

Hi Martin, I think you need a steel circular spring that sits underneath the insert. When the spring is in place what you do is press down on the bezel and turn to adjust. When pressure is released from the bezel it is pushed back up by the spring and thus tightens it. :thumbsup:

The Bezal is uni directional and so i will "adjust" the spring to tighten the turn.

what is that small piece laying inside the bezel ring? is that important?

Also, how does one remove the bezel in the first place?

Its what stops the bezal going back on itself on a uni directional bezal like a SD ( its what makes the clicks )on my Tudor the bezal is bi directional and this piece is missing.

Your Tudor doesn't have a click spring. The only Tudor Sub with one is the 79190 [thanks, Neil!!:thumbsup:]. Just the retainer ring and bezel.:thumbsup: Not sure how to increase the friction though.:thinking:

I have a 76100 and a 79090, both are bi-directional and both turn fairly easily. They are not loose by any means, they take a bit of pressure to turn but not much.

Yeah I think most bi-directional bezels are quite easy to turn normally unless they have collected some 'gunge' over the years and then they can be real hard to move!
Dan is spot-on- your 76100 bezel should rotate in both directions.
One method (that has varying degrees of success) is to remove the bezel and the tension ring underneath which should have a slight fold or crease across it's diameter...simply bend it a bit more to slightly incrase the 'fold' (very very slightly though!).
