Hey all - my friend suggested I check out this site for suggestions on a watch to buy for my husband. For his recent 30th, I bought him a Tag. He really loved the watch, but I wanted to see what others would suggest. Although, I'm really not looking to break the bank either:clap: !

Hey there Running Mama, welcome to TRF, I'm sure you'll find plenty of good advice here.
What style of watch were you thinking of getting him? Maybe a nice dress watch to compliment the Tag, or perhaps another sports model?
There are many good choices for either...

Welcome to TRF, Running Mama  As Otis said, there are so many styles and choices. Could you be a little more specific as to what type your looking for?

Welcome to TRF RM.
What hobbies or pastimes does your hubby have? This may help in narrowing down the watch for him. Incidentally, he's a lucky guy.

Let me add my welcome to TRF, RM. Glad you were directed here. You've gotten some good questions from the others. No need for me to add any more. But the more information you can give us, the better guidance we can give you.
BTW, Which Washington - East or West coast?

Wow - thanks for the quick responses. He likes the simplicity of the Tag watches, but I was thinking he'd look good in a Rolex too. I was hoping to get something similar in style to the Tag, but nothing too dressy. He really isn't into the flash... if you know what I mean. He loves golfing and is a huge cigar buff. Does that help at all?
Btw - West Coast!

It sounds as though the professional line would be right up his alley. Maybe a Submariner or GMT?

Sounds like a SS Sub Date or Sub ND (depending on whether he would like a cyclops) might be just the ticket. They are the quintesential Rolexes. Very understated; can be dressed up or down.

I was just thinking that
Some nice colour in a Pepsi GMT, or maybe if you like simplicity an Explorer!

Any of those 3 or 4. SS Sub, GMT black or Pepsi, or SS sub no date.
He should be over the moon with any of those:thumbsup:

You're all speaking a forgien language to me! Does that sound bad? Considering I'm new to the Rolex styles/terms... I'll have to look up your suggestions. Thanks for the tips - I'll let you know how it goes.

Hi RM,
Let me add my welcome to TRF!! If your man is not a travelling man, then perhaps you should get him the ULTIMATE Rolex....the SS Submariner-Date, model 16610...here's a picture (or two) :chuckle: of mine. Hope you like it!!

Sorry for the delayed response. Right now I'm juggling a newborn, a 2 yr old and training for the Seattle 1/2 Marathon. :0) Very nice JJ! Love the pics! It is much easier to put a pic to the suggestions.

I think he would like the classic look of the Oyster Professional Explorer I or the Oyster Prof Submariner? Ugh - decisions decisions.
I must be the worse online chatter, I've never participated in something like this before... my name is Jodi.

Hi Jodi,
Thanks for your response. For starters, you must ask your man whether he would prefer the larger Sub at 40 mm or the smaller Exp 1 which is only 36 mm.
I know many to be uncomfortable with the smaller watches if they have larger wrists....and vice versa.
Both watches run the same 3130 superb movement, so that is hardly important. Both have no dates, so if that's not an issue any one of those watches would be a good buy.
In the end, I guess, size does matter!!
Good luck - JJ

Jodi, take a look at the number of posts by our favorite Bald Kiwi Loon (aka BKL, aka JJ Irani) and tell me if you think you are the worst chatter on-line. You don't even come close to being the worst.
But do keep on posting. We are all about having fun here. And occasionally you'll get some good watch advice - when we can stop hijacking threads.

Ed is right Jodi. Even though JJ has given you some good advice, you definetly aren't the worst on-line chatter.

Photos are mixed of my watch prior to and after getting serviced by Rolex Service Center in Toronto (1st two are after service, 3rd one and so on are prior to)
