Hi there - could the collective wisdom and knowledge on here please advise me if this is genuine or not. With my limited knowledge it looks good to me. Have not paid for it yet.

Many thanks.

Thanks also. Another question for the experts. Was the 1601 (I think this is a 1967 model according to the Case No.) only available with a Jubilee Bracelet or could one put an Oyster Bracelet on it and maintain its authenticity? Cheers.

Dan, I think it would look better with a Jubi b/let. I fitted an oyster b/let to a DJ with a fluted bezel and it didn't look right. I like a plain bezel with an oyster b/let but hey its your watch mate, whatever makes you happy.

To me the printing looks crooked on the dial, could just be the angle of the pic.

If you mean the "Superlative Chronometer" printing, I hope it is just the angle of the picture, however all this guy's Rolex listings have a similar refraction so fingers crossed. Thanks.

The crystal looks goofy to me. It should be plastic but looks to have a hard edge to it. Looks to have some water damage, but that can be fixed.

I don't mind if it is tatty as going straight to Rolex when it arrives in England for some much needed TLC and a Jubilee Bracelet. I was just concerned if it was genuine or not. Thanks.

My "new" 1967 Datejust has just arrived from US (3 days via UPS which is pretty amazing), and I am really happy with it. The watch is in really good condition and the pictures in the listing do not do it any favours at all. It is now at my local AD for shipping off to Rolex in Bexley, for a service, a new white dial, new hands and a new Oyster Bracelet. I would have left the silver dial on it, but unfortunately a few of the luminescent blobs had fallen off so a new dial was required (£200 that I had not expected). Anyway, really chuffed and cannot wait to get it back (will post pictures once I have mastered macro photography with my new Pentax SLR). Cheers.

I have just had the quote back from Rolex Bexley, and even though it is more that I originally planned (to the tune of £200), the good news is that it is a genuine Rolex and is not on their stolen register. My only quandary now is whether to continue with the order for a replacement white dial, or to change it for blue. Has anyone got a picture of a Rolex 1601 with a white dial? Many thanks.

Got her back and she is looking beautiful. Rolex decided to put her back on a Jubilee Bracelet rather than the Oyster I ordered, but nonetheless I am very happy. I will post photographs in the morning when the sun comes out. Cheers

That seller has a pile of Rolex for sale often. But the bad pix and vagueness of their descriptions keep me away from bidding. Looks like you got a good deal though (sell it to me!).

I know nothing but I know junk when I see it and this watch is definitely not (IMHO) junk!

Congrats!

That could be the most annoying ebay listing I've ever seen.

This guy is a top eBayer and his photographs do not do his watches justice. The postage is a bit expensive (he did give me $24 refund though) but I received the watch in three days, which from the US to England must be a record. Will post photographs later this morning. Cheers.

The sun has not materialised today in West Sussex, so here is a picture with a flash.

Hi Dan, Wow! well you gotta be happy with that, absolutely like brand new again and definitely better IMO on a jubilee. It looks great, well worth the wait. Also I think the pics look much better without the flash, natural light even with no sun is much better.

Thanks Michael  - the lack of sun means that I have to be very still to take detailed photographs without a tripod, so it is much easier for me when the light is good (I shake too much in the mornings - probably due to my age and/or the amount of wine I drank the night before!)
