Just curious how many TRF members have a Panerai in their collection:thinking:
Post pics if you have them or what your Dream Pannie would be.

Hi there,
this beautiful baby (arrived a couple of days ago)it's in my collection.
PAM 111 H sandwich dial. This is my first Panerai watch, I never had one first.
I love vintage watches, anyway this one has a great history that's why I bought it.

Hi John
There is a Panerai in the family....my dad now has my first Panerai, a PAM2D.
Dream Pannie? I think I was fortunate to actually own that for a while: 5218-201/A Logo.

Does owning a strap count?
I don't own one at the moment... perhaps further down the road, but I don't have a hankering for one. If I were to get one, I'll need something similar to a 195 but with a regatta dial. I don't like the power reserve indicators.

Hey Amanda the 000 logo is awesome! 2nd one in on the bottom row. The 40mm on the right with the red strap is my wife's.

That was the first Panerai that I purchased and dare I say it will be with me for the long haul. I would probably get rid of the Rollies before that one left the collection-(sorry JJ!) There is something special about that simple painted dial and it's lack of any extras...

nice one hutchman... love your wifes PAM too... I dunno, something about the 48 and 49 really sings to me BUT its getting up there a bit in price (remember how much trouble i got in over the GMT?? I dont wanna go home and get in trouble again) the 48 is $6kAU and the 112 is $5kAU brand new in box from the AD. I'm thinking next time, I wanna go to the AD and get a new one.....

I have a Base 00000 and absolutely love it. JJ thought it was a bit big for my wrist and i have to agree but thats where the fun lies. It is supposed to look imposing and big. I get quite a few comments on it.
Would love a 1950 or militare but thats very expensive and i dont want to buy used especially with the recent spate of fakes and scamms that have led to good paneristi being ripped off. AD for me only.

Honest answer? Held it, admired it, loved the feel of it, appreciated the finish of it and also thrilled at the heft of it.
After all that, did I like it? Sorry, NO!! Had absolutely no appeal for me. Met up with Don (sub2004) only last week and held his Pam up close and personal. Frankly, it did absolutely nothing for me.
I'm not saying I despise it, but at the same time, it doesn't get me drooling and excited like a Rolex would. And, yes, I have seen many other watches that excite me, but Pannies just don't....wish they would, but they just don't...try as hard as I might!!
However, in all fairness, the one that might get my adrenalin pumping would have to be the Chrono version (Pam 122 I think) with the Hi-beat 36,000 A/hr movement and the SS/Ti original bracelet. Now that's a PANERAI!!!
If someone could post a picture of it, it would make me very happy. Thanks!!

I have one, obviously, my circa 1999 Panerai PAM01B.
As for a grail Panerai... I'd love to get a PAM210. I wore John's for much of Saturday night and it just felt so right. That's a realistic goal, particularly if I can swap my ExpII for one, without costing me a penny.
Otherwise, I would LOVE a PAM190, a PAM0 logo would be cool, and also a 114 base would be a great addition. Also, Mike's 233 got my mojo going in a big way too!

I dunno John. It essentially looks like a box full of the same watch to me. That was a conclusion I came to when I was into Panerai. I can see one Luminor and one Rad. After that it just seems redundant (assuming the same case size). But then, I'm not really a collector - more of a wearer.

That looks like Jerrolds (I know I've spent his name wrong) box of goodies! Last time I saw him at P4 Day he was wearing the 60mm Egiziano!
Well, they might look similar to Bruce (:chuckle:) but I can spot at a glance a 202A, 203A, Mare Nostrum Prototype, Slytech, and a 201A Logo, so just those 5 watches alone will cost in excess of $100,000! :nut:

The white dial with the PVD coated case? It's got to be a pre-V model as I can't find it on anything post-buyout. Could be a Slytech - big, BIG bucks!

Personally, I find it hard to justify having multiple watches that cost the kind of money Rolex and Panerai do... it doesnt necessarily come down to what I can afford either, I kinda feel guilty about it. Thats why I suppose i am thinking of moving on the GMT to fund the Panerai... I dont feel right in owning both.
I could probably feel ok having say a Panerai and a Tudor Date or something....
You can only wear 1 at a time right? Without looking like a dill that is....

Well, what's life without some excess? But I agree. I could never personally justify having more than say a dozen watches, and even then I could only 'do' it if I won the lottery. But like fast sports cars, watches are meant to be used, and I'd use 'em all.
But with my Seiko Monster, my Rolex ExpII and my Panerai PAM01, I'm quite happy... well, I'll be happier when the Rolex leaves the stable.

What do you think of the Seiko Monster, John? I've never seen one in the flesh but it looks really nice!
Well, the Monster is great value, possibly IMO the best value for the money. It's certainly not a watch you see every day, so it stands out both because of it's size and because it's not the prettiest watch around. It's ugly, but so ugly it's too cool for school - and the lume is second to none.
I quite like mine. It's a great beater and mine runs about +7 or 8 a day, which ain't bad. I just wish the day feature was replaced with a hacking mechanism, but that's me.
