That looks perfectly proportioned to me. I think it's a matter of taste. People like what they like. Over the past 10-15 years, we've seen a trend towards larger watch sizes being prevalent. And I like it.
We've gotten to the point where some would say that a 36mm watch looks too small on a typical man's wrist. There are many factors involved, including how big a watch "wears" despite it's lug-to-lug dimensions.
