I am also not sure what is wrong with the proportions of the Explorer 39.

Also on the sub being boring - then surely both the Explorer and OP are equally dull, if not more so? But for an every day wear I think being a bit on the less flamboyant side is actually what you need.

I would take a 116710LN if you value the GMT function, smaller on the wrist than explorer 2 and more subtle than Pepsi, etc.

If GMT function is not for you, then Explorer 39 is perfect choice.
