The iPhone has a very cool photo enhancement editor. You can apply the adjustments manually, or just use the wizard which is pretty good (and simple). Just bring up the pic, tap Edit in the top right corner, then tap the magic wand icon in the lower center of the screen. It will apply various enhancements to the pic (e.g. brightness, contrast, white balance, shadows, etc.). I can't find any fault with the algorithm they use -- my pics always look better.
