If I was in California, I'd rather send my GS to Japan than NJ. It doesn't take much longer (maybe a day?), shouldn't cost much more to ship, and it'll probably be getting better service in its home country. I recently sent a GS to Japan from HK for service and turnaround was about 7 weeks. All the details about what was done to the watch during service was printed in English on the service paper.
