Never knew ll that about Bremont....thx for making me research.

HISTORY

The story of Bremont started back when brothers Nick and Giles English were young boys at their family home. Their father, Euan English had a workshop full of tools, clocks and various other mechanical goods that fascinated the boys in every way. Euan English was a wonderful engineer. He was Cambridge educated, and was also a champion RAF display pilot. He would go to car boot sales, buy old clocks and make Nick and Giles take them apart and put them back together. They restored old cars, vintage planes, built yacht's which they sailed around the world in, and built musical instruments too. Life was always an adventure, and they often joined their father when he was taking part in air displays. Tragedy struck in 1995. Nick and his father hadn't flown together in a long time, so Euan decided to go up with Nick in their 2-seater 1942 Harvard (T-6 Texan) It was a WWII training aircraft for Spitfire Pilots. During practice, something faltered with the planes engine, and the plane crashed into a field, breaking up on impact. Nick was thrown form the plane and broke 30 bones, his father was killed instantly. After coming out of hospital, Giles - Nick's younger brother took Nick flying immediately. It was so important to get him back up in the sky and realise how lucky they really were to have such freedoms. The accident made the brothers realise that life is too short, so they both left their jobs in the city and started their own plane restoration business, but that still wasn't enough, and it was through the love and passions taught to them by their father, that they decided to create their own watch brand. Bremont was founded in 2002, a watch company rooted in aviation themed timepieces. They released their first watch to the public in 2007, much to the relief of their wives. [2]
The name Bremont was decided by the brothers after a flight in their bi-plane through the Champagne region in France. They hit some bad weather and were forced to make an emergency landing in a pea field. In France, if you land a plane in a field, the Police will make you take the plane apart and move it somewhere that they feel is more suitable to take off. Luckily for the English brothers, the farmer whose field they landed in was an ex war pilot, and hurried the plane from the field and into a barn. Meanwhile - the brothers could see flashing blue lights from an approaching Police car coming to find them, but they were safe. The farmer reminded them very much of their father and how he would be in older age. His workshop was full of old clocks and pieces of engines, and his name was Antoine Bremont. After a couple of days, they pulled their plane out of the barn and said farewell to their new friend. To call a British watch brand 'English' after their own name just didn't seem right. It wouldn't truly portray the image that they wanted to get across, and it would be pretty difficult to get a copyright on that name too. They felt that Bremont was just perfect, and as with all other parts of the story, it was just another coincidence that played a part in their story. [2]
