Haute luxury watches are haute luxury watches, so holding value is rooted in the emotion of consumers. Emotionally, the sub takes watch lovers back to old heroes like Connery's Bond and Steve McQueen in Lemans. Yet, 116710LN has more functionality. That said, I think the 116710 BLNR drives down the value of the 116710LN because its features distinguish it from the branding of the sub, which is priced conspicuously close to the gmt that has more functionality. So clearly the sub's value is driven mostly by branding and not value relative to the 116710LN, which is a gmt with the added paraflex feature. The best value for the money is the 116710, but for now, it looks like a blue/black bezel is enough make the BLNR hold value better than the sub and the 116710LN. The best value IMHO is the 214270, but for some reason, I am emotionally drawn to the sub--go figure.
