The boy in that photo looks to be about 6 or 7? I think Magnum (the character) was 34 in 1979. So he supposedly inherited the watch in 1952 or so, long before it was introduced. So, considering the innacuracy of the storyline, I would suggest you get yourself an early 1675.

He also had a Chronosport, another hard watch to find these days.
Are those the watches that came out with the Radioactive bakelite bezel???

Inaccuracies aside, what would the actor actually had? the 1675????
