Seems like a fair price. Recently dealers have been asking in the mid to high $4K range on the forums (sometimes even higher) for similar age GMTs.
The nice thing about a (reputable) local store is that you can inspect the watch first and there is no shipping risk. I made a similar decision to buy local and pay the sales tax rather than buying on the internet for the same price.
See if you can get them to back it with 1 year of free service, just in case.
