I need good cheap watch that I can beat around.

I have my daily submariner. But my job is physical and the watch gets bashed around too much for my liking. I want something cheap and quartz thats not too big and can take a beating?? Something like a g shock just not that ugly

G-Shock's are an acquired taste. I do prefer the models with analog dials. Problem is some of the digital displays are very difficult to read.

Just how cheap are you looking? $100? $400?

Any Timex watch will do, I suppose. It takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'.

A Seiko 5 sports model with a 7S26 automatic movement.

Casio has so many models. There are models with analog displays that are not too huge or too ugly. I use my Pathfinder for the rough stuff. I am not wild about the display, but as a hiker I like the use of a compass and altimeter on my wrist.

The problem I have with Seiko 5's is you cannot manually wind to provide an initial full mainspring. So you have to swing them around for quite awhile to get the mainspring wound. Not a problem if you wear it all the time, but I just can't get around it. For a cheap watch get a quartz watch so you don't have to set, wind, etc. Just pick up and go to work.

Yes it's not worth getting a cheap automatic or manual. Servicing a 500 dollar watch doesn't make much sense to me

Seiko has any number of watches that'll fit your bill, not just dive watches. They have a handsome field watch line if you're looking to go light weight and a wide selection of differently styled chronographs, all for less than $100.
