Iwc Portuguese Auto
A new delivery from Mosco aka Greg a few weeks back. Just an amazing time piece, the silver dial, striking blue hands and gorgeous 7 day movement. I love the huge face as the bezel is tiny and the thickness of the watch.
What can I say about Greg, my second deal with him and he is definitley one of the highly trusted sellers here on trf, I highly recommend him. Thanks again Greg. The port auto should blend nicely with my big pilot and pilot chrono. I just love the timeless, understated elegance that Iwc watches have. If you re on the fence about trying a Port Auto do yourself a favour and pick one up you will not be disapointed, remember to contact Mosco!

That thing looks massive! How small is your wrist?
Also, I thought that the blue-hand version comes on a blue strap - can you choose a different color?

i have 6 3/4 wrists and the port auto is 42.3 mm but there is virtually no bezel so it looks bigger than it actually is. Heck it is my smallest watch in my collection! The big pilot is 46m! Yes it comes on a navy blue strap i have a tan and chocolate strap for it as well.

A fantastic group pic indeed. The display back going nearly all the way out to the edge is a very alluring attribute with most IWCs. Congrats and ENJOY!

While the 5001 is a beautiful watch, I wouldn't be crying too much if I had that amazing looking Lange to occupy my time with until the 5001's return :)

Sorry about the hijack Andy. By the way, is that the dark brown strap on your 5001-7?

I dislike IWC for their vibrating rotors and their use of industry standard movements -- but I cannot apply those prejudices towards the Portuguese. Those tend to be pretty great.
Also, note that you cannot compare a big date wheel or what is also called a double-date wheel to those that aren't. Those are an echelon higher in terms of complications. |

My burning passion for the YG YMII and IWC portuguese perpetual calendar is gone thanks to you! Now i'm looking at the Grand Lange 1..what's your say on the comparison to the 2 other watches i have stated above? From my perspective, that Lange is in a class of its own compared to the Rolex and IWC, what do you think? |

And the 'vibrating rotor' you're referring to is the Pellaton winding, most efficient system in the industry. While wearing your watch, you can shake your wrist and watch the PR meter go up. But of course, it is noisier than Rolex, so I can't fault you for your preferences.

I have a very short list for my next Lange; the Zeitwerk Striking Time in WG! My wife thinks it's the most striking (pun intended) watch she's ever seen/heard. |

How about Patek? I would also love to own a Patek but i prefer a rounded-case watch that's why i wouldn't go with the Nautilus. Could you give me a recommendation? I prefer a black dial because i'm still 23 and i need a timeless watch. Thanks! Wow your choice is very impressive indeed! That's the only "digital" watch in the world that is truly accepted in the haute horlogerie! |

If you want a round black dial Patek, you've got to check out the 5153G Calatrava. I think most Lange fans are still on the fence about the ZW line. It's a very radical departure for the brand (discounting the Opera House clock). Time will tell if it's an Edsel or the start of a new classic. By the way, FP Journe's Vagabondage II is widely acclaimed and beat Lange to a digital display although the ALS solution is more natural to read. |
