5712r Ultimate Everyday Gold Sports/Dress Watch...?
Hey All,
So... I think I've decided to go PP over Rolex with my first gold watch.. as if I get a Rolex.. Im just gonna trade it in 6months for a PP... and I just watched this... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nly2eBN-PYU So i guess my question is this... BNIB the PP 5712r can be had for around $41,000... is there any other PP model that would be BETTER suited for wearing everyday.. all the time? I feel the Nautilus series is more comfy than the regular Annual Calendars! Let me know.. or of any other brands to look at in this simiar style (but not the Royal Oak.. trading my 39mm Dual Time SS for this Patek!) Thanks! |

For daily, I'd go SS. And for that price, I'd go 5726a on bracelet to get the AC.

Excellent choice. My only other preference would be the 5980r but this one costs a bit more.

The following is just my .02 since you asked.
I think it depends upon your lifestyle. Do you wear a suit all day and need a little more formal? Do you prefer sporty and causal the majority if the time? I think you get where I'm going with this line of thinking. Only you can make the decision for your lifestyle. For me, in Patek, I like a little less formal--therefore SS. Others will make the case for the exact opposite. Personally 5712r is amazing, but I'm not a leather strap person, so no matter the metal it's a no go for me. I too watched that video this past weekend. But the other watch he has on I think is a better daily, the 5980 in SS. Granted finding one, well good luck. Think Govberg had one left in white dial. The new 5990 is also quite spectacular (even harder to find right now LOL). At the end of the day, what might work in gold for one, may not be the best for another. Passing on the Rolex and buying he Patek was the smart move without question. If you love strap and gold--well then it's a no brainer. Grab it and cannot wait for incoming shots. Quite frankly all flavors of Pateks can make a great daily, it's just finding the flavor that best suits your needs. |

I like the 5712r quite a bit, and the 5980r even more, especially because I'm partial to leather straps over bracelets. I know you've had a ss royal oak dual time, but have you considered the 15202 in rose gold? I bet the thin case and material will give you a totally different experience...
Personally, I'd go with one of the previously mentioned models, since I prefer leather, but man is this jumbo amazing! |

I was never a big fan of the 5167 (don't hate), BUT enablers on this forum have me thinking about this reference more and more. And, I've never owned (and am not sure if/when I would own) a gold watch as I've been a ss kind of guy (although I own a ceramic piece too). With that said, I am growing fond of the 5167r. I recently had the opportunity to put one on my wrist at an AD - it's really impressive on so many levels, and extremely comfy.
The 5167r could be a great daily for you, and I think it can be dressed up nicely too...heck, it's a Patek. P.S. I have the 5712/1a and enjoy it more each time I wear it. |

Is it bad to say that the 5712 hasn't even arrived yet, and I already want another one?
I may have a problem. Lol JPS |

Goes without saying it's a fantastic timepiece, but I have to say I'm surprisingly underwhelmed at the packaging.

Bwahaha! That's more like it! So what was that in the video, how they arrive at the AD? Looked like something you'd find on a display rack at a kiosk in the mall.
