15k tourbillon by tag

So do we think this is a "steal?"

I was intrigued when I saw the press release and photos, I also am a big fan of the new 01 Caliber, and this Tourbillon is pretty sick as far as I can tell, if love to see one in the flesh.

A tourbillon with a 100 m WR is pretty cool

15k tourbillon by tag

I am wondering if this offering will depreciate the "tourbillon market" which so far was seen as something very exclusive, thus very expensive...
Tourbillon as such is pretty useless and does not provide significant technical advantages for a wristwatch, but it was always the tangible proof of a watchmaker's technical skills.
Back to the question: it does seem to be a steal... But I am not smitten by the overall design of this TAG.

Well you can buy a Swiss tourbillon that is cased in China for $500, so I would not exactly call it exclusive anymore.

I have always thought that the prices of Tourbillon watches are drastically overpriced. Since almost all brands can do it, it is also not an exceptional complication.I can appreciate the visual appeal that it adds to a watch but maybe after a while, this wears off too.

In this age of computerized design and manufacturing, I do not understand why this would be difficult or expensive to produce.
As opposed to when Breguet invented the tourbillon, when I believe that they were still filing the gears by hand.

If memory serves me, I think that 10 years ago, you could not buy a tourbillon under $100,000, so prices have come down dramatically.

Wait a little bit and pick it up on the second hand market for half the price.

Show me where you can find that.

Most of the tourbillon from China priced at $500 are Chinese made movements. Not Swiss.

I have heard that making a leap second movement is a bit harder than making of a tourbillon but for some reason,if that's true, tourbillon watches sell a few timez prices as aforementioned chronograph brethren
I would prefer 36000 Vph ZENITH EL PRIMERO but wouldn't mind having a Tag otherwise hideous brand ambassadors

x2, this is accurate. However, I do give TAG credit for adding this complication to their offerings

That is an attractive watch!
Always had a thing for tourbillon complications on sports watches!

To be honest apart from some gyrotourbillons from JLC and other brands which are amazing to look at a normal tourbillon is way overpriced and to be honest I prefer a moon phase, I saw many videos where you see the watch maker make it and installs it and for me, I am no expert, it does not bring any reason to the crazy asking prices for a small mechanism basically useless, so it's really not a complication which fascinates me, a minute repeater is one that does and IMO by far the most fascinating of all complications...
