Is this blasphemous?
I've been toying around with some straps for my 5146. I find the original Patek strap to be so formal and fragile. Has anyone found a good combo? What do folks think about this?

Lol this might trigger some folks. I think it's fine. Especially if you like it. It's your watch and that's all that matters. Forget the haters.

I know, I don’t mean to be triggering! I have a soft spot for beautiful watches and out of balance straps.

I bought a couple of leather natos to try, only to be put back in the drawer....not really a nato fan. White dial white case can do just about any color, delugs you can do custom stuff for not too crazy pricing, I've been trying different painted sides or underside colors/materials. For my 6007 yellow did a Camille fournet fabric pattern calf on top with a yellow croc underside I really like

Strange :)
At first glance I thought it is an authentic WW trench watch because it looks good in that regard. In this case, the watch and the strap match perfectly. However, I think this is the feeling I would never want to feel when I have such a beautiful PP on my wrist. |

I feel nauseous. Those types of straps detract heavily from a pp. maybe check out Oris or Hamilton?

If the field watch look is what you’re looking for, then it works. I would personally use a more classic strap for that reference. I owned it at one time and changed the strap to something a bit more casual, but not quite that casual.

strap looks nice but contrast between very formal case and very casual strap is too much for me.

I think rmlovett1 has it about as casual as I'd take it, but it's your watch. Wear what you like.

I like that second strap, the watch is so versatile. So torn between the 5146G and 5320G Cream Dial, decisions decisions....

Im a big nato fan but somehow this doesn't do it for me but if you like it that's all that matters. I used to know a guy who wore a 5970 on a nato.

OP, the 5146 details are just very classic and formal, such as the font. Tastes change though. The current denim strap Nautilus 5980, for example, works because the Nautilus is a dressy case that is much more sporty.
What I do with this kind of watch case is pick a still dressy strap (ex. calf leather) but in a more casual color. I found this works much better than an outright rugged or sporty strap material. |

Not my first choice but if all calendars this one “fits” the best.

Not a reference for me but that strap takes attention away from the dial and makes the watch look pretty cool.

Try blue suede or blue nubuck for a casual look
That is a war crime and should be punishable with a ban. |

It's an unusual combination.
But if you want a better candidate for that NATO, a platinum 5270P in Salmon and you're destined to be a real blasphemer Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

OK... I'm still trying things out and on the quest for the perfect casual strap. How about this? I like it a bit more, seems to fit the watch, preppy yet casual

I think you should choose another watch rather than looking for a strap for this. All of these straps are cool, but in my opinion, none of them have any added value that would make that PP look better compared to an original strap. I think that these would be able to brighten up almost any "traditional" watch, but in the case of a Holy Trinity watch, I do not feel that harmony I would look for.
