Upgrade to 12 series WG Daytona?
Hi - I'm thinking about upgrading my 11 series Ghost to a 12 series. Anyone else do that, which one do you prefer, and how long was AD wait? Thanks!

I don't own either but I did submit my name for the 126519LN (both dials). I prefer the 12 series - it's more refined aesthetically and has the glidelock clasp

Thanks for your opinion! I go back and forth on which is better, but I think the glidelock clasp is probably the game changer. Worry a little about dinging up the white gold bezel ring however, as that's a common issue on my non-ceramic bezel watches.

Someone posted recently that they had damaged the outer bezel ring on their ghost so it's definitely a concern. I believe he said it was around $500 to replace.

Upgrade to 12 series WG Daytona?
I traded my 116500ln white for the new 126 white dial because of the new bezel; thinner black subdial rings, and stick hours markers. Overall cleaner look for me. I loved my old 116, but comparing them side by side in hand a couple of times it did it for me. My 116519LN silver black subdial though I’m keeping. I value the solid ceramic bezel due to durability. It won’t dent. The bezel ring surround made of gold would be too soft for comfort. Plus the solid ceramic bezel on the WG OF doesn’t overwhelm the bigger case of the WG watch with its bigger case. On my previous steel white dial 116500 I felt the ceramic bezel looked like an afterthought and didn’t flow with good design to me. While it contrasted boldly (maybe too much) eventually while comparing in hand the new 126 SS won out. With the smaller case of the 116 the dial started feeling cluttered with the thick sticks and black rings.
On the WG OF I also like how the thicker hour marks capture the sunlight better and fill up the dial space. I haven’t seen the WG OF in hand, but the solid ceramic bezel give me more peace of mind against dings and flows good enough with the super case of the OF. The OF case is even thicker at the lugs than the new 126 steel Daytona. The new thinner subdial rings while nice to me on the white 126500ln are lost on ghost so no game changer for me |

I would make the upgrade.
Simply for the glidelock alone!

I have a good fit with my 116519LN so don’t need the glidelock with its easylink. The fins under the OF band has enough give that I never even use the easylink. I can see how fitment can be an issue with OF bands though. Glidelock would help with that. I have a 124060 sub with the glidelock so know what it can do. Not that big of a deal to me. I do think I have use 3 different notches very rarely. Easy link good enough for all my other watches though.

The gildelock just provides more options. With easy link the 3 pin holes require tools, disassembly, and reassembly. Both the 11 and 12 WG OF are great watches. The only way you go wrong is to sell either one and not keep it!

The new gridlock on the 12 series is a great addition. The glidelock on the WG OF Daytona is similar but smaller than the glidelock on my DSSD JJ 136660. The glidelock alone make the 12 series a comfortable and perfect upgrade from the 11 series. But YMMV.

I’m on the list for the 126 “ghost” Daytona. I have the 116 in blk, but that white gold on OF with the glide lock is an absolute winner in my eyes!

Upgrade to 12 series WG Daytona?
The dial of the 11 looks complete and esthetically more pleasing with the fat indices. Monoblock ceramic bezel is cleaner. I also like the 11 case more.
11 Ghost is significantly better looking than 12 Ghost. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Exactly my thoughts too. I haven’t seen the 12 in person but on the ghost the thin hour markers leave too much blank space on the dial.

12 > 11. I own both references and I choose 12 always

I have the 11. I thought about trading it in, but decided against it.

Just my take- if you are having trouble getting a good fit with the 11-series/easy link, then I think it makes sense to go for the 12-series/glide lock.
If not, no, I don't see a reason. |

I was able to get either and preferred the look of the 12 plus the newer OF bracelet was a big upgrade over the 11. Not sure about the full PM

I have a 116509 with the steal dial and across the board I think the light dial/dark sub dial looks better in the 11 series but the opposite looks better in the 12 series.
The glide lock on the 12 is nice but as others have said i have a good fit on the 11 so don't feel I need it enough to make the swap.

I have the 116519 meteorite, and I love it, but the new WG versions of the Daytona are such an improvement, in my opinion. One of my friends got the black dial 126509 and it's possibly the nicest white metal Daytona I've seen.

Someone called me out saying my photo above is RG but it’s a ghost WG. At dusk however the incandescent lighting can make it look rose. Here’s a natural light photo of the same watch

I can’t cope with the flare on the strap on oysterflex. So much so I’m trying to use my meteorite Daytona as collateral for another watch atm.

Agree, same with the YG champagne dial, think the previous dials were nicer so its a question of fit.

I would NOT due to durability. Keep the 116 ghost and congratulate yourself for avoiding the bezel edge dings and scratches that will be upsetting.
My wife wishes her 126515 was the old style for that exact reason. Love the 116519!!! You cannot get a better watch IMO. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
