AD called. I said yes...

Talk about unexpected! I wasn't really hunting any Rolex at all. I have a couple of pretty special FP Journes on order for 2021, so I have just been sort of dormant in "wait" mode for those. That said, early in 2019 I had tried, with my AD, to get a blue dial BLRO in WG. They did their level best to get one for months, but being a small AD they just couldn't get it. They promised me if they ever got one they would call me first.

So, here we are, over a year later, and zero conversations about it...I had already chalked it up to "the one that got away." Phone rings on Monday, they got their first one ever and it's mine if I want it. Unexpected? yes. Unwanted? Hell no! Picked it up this morning and could not be happier. Worth the almost 2 year wait for sure.

Haven't been able to get a good picture of it yet as it is super overcast here, but trust me, it's a beautiful creature.

Wow!

That is a very special watch & looks amazing in your pictures.

I’ve never seen one in the flesh so can only imagine how good it looks up close.

Congratulations on your new baby & respect to your AD for thinking of you after such a long time.

I guess as it was their first, it was nearly as special a moment for them as it was for you lol!

Enjoy

I was super surprised how hard this one was to get. I'm not sure if it is demand or supply, or both, but my AD just could not get this.

Thanks so much. I have always tried to remain loyal to my AD, and they have certainly returned the favor over the years. They didn't forget that promise they made me, and that meant a great deal to me.

I much prefer dealing with small Independent AD’s rather than the national chains.

My AD is family owned and it makes a difference to the service you get & the fact they know me on first name terms when I call is also nice.

I never understand members here who scoff at building ‘relationships’ with AD’s.

I think it makes the whole experience of purchasing a new watch that bit more special.

Only ever purchased one new Rolex from a national chain store & found it to be quite cold & unrewarding.

The sales girl was obviously just working there part time to fund college & knew absolutely zero about the watch or Rolex in general.

P.S Is it a daily wearer? If so, how do you find the weight of the full gold compared to a regular SS piece ?

Thanks

Thats my favorite white gold reference. You're off to a great start for the weekend with that beautiful watch, wear in health.

Congrats! My brother just picked one up this past month. I love my stainless steel Jubilee Pepsi, but I really like the white gold variant. Enjoy!

Congrats! Honestly I like the blue dial with blue on bezel way better than the stainless Pepsi with black dial with blue on bezel.

I have quite a few watches so they all go in a rotation. As far as the weight I have a gold Daytona I wear quite a bit so I am used to it. Don't even really notice it other than SS watches feel light as opposed to PM watches feeling heavy, if that makes sense.

Agree completely on the small town AD. Sure, it's still a money business but at least you feel like you really know them and they actually know things about you ("How's your Dad doing," etc.). It's worked out for me.

Maybe a small run of them finally landed from Switzerland and a few went out. Good news for all of us. Congrats. Great piece eh?

Appreciate the warm sentiments everyone. I haven't been as good the last year or so sharing incomings, but this one felt really special because of the long wait, and the feeling that I had lost my chance, then coming back around to getting it as a complete surprise.

For all those waiting on something don't give up. It just might happen!
