Scientific Explorer Experiment
With all the talk about people finding the Explorer too small (and even buying them for their girlfriends ), I decided to find out. Is this watch really a womans 1st choice?
Now, since my wife still thinks I'm a 1 watch guy (and she's not home at the moment either), she can't participate in this experiment. My 1-year-old steps in. I think the result will be transferable, they've got roughly the same wrist size . Let's put the watches on his chair, an Explorer II functions as bait. Will he take the big one with that funny bubble, red hand and numbers on the bezel? Yes, look at that, we're gonna prove them all wrong! Aah, no, changed his mind in the last second there... Yes son, it is really a beautiful watch. May I have it back? Come on, please, in just 20 years time it's yours...(or your sisters, it may seem) Unfortunately I must conclude, this is not a mans' watch. Any women or children out there looking to buy?

Jo, Your experiment is flawed....Try it with the Exp-II on a shiny Oyster bracelet. It's all about the Shiny!

You are correct. My youngest daughter likes my Ex 14270 better than any other of my watches... but that do not stop me from having it as my number 1!
BTW I have two daughters... the older prefers my white ExII... Great pics as usual! |

I was out for a meal in Paris a couple of weeks ago. As usual watch watching and I notice two ladies wearing an explorer, so it does appear to be popular with the fairer sex.

Fantastic experiment...Incontrovertible scientific proof that women and 1 year-old kids will go for the shiny every time. I grabbed this picture of Kobe Bryant's wife and her Daytona from another thread. Lots of bling there. Can't get it out of my mind...

It's all relative. In all probability, by the time your son is ready to own a watch, he'll wonder why so many old men wear clown watches and he'll be interested in the brand new 32mm Rolex Explorer III.
